So I finally got the funds saved up and bought my first ever Bad Dragon toy, a medium Austin (in medium firmness, with added cumtube for potential fun.)

Now I'm nervous. It's a hair larger than the toy I already have, and it's my first "furry" dildo, so that knot will be a little intimidating when the day comes and it's laying on my bed.

I have a few plans for it when it arrives, but the experiences of locals that have also bought from Bad Dragon tells me that it's going to be a serious 6-10 week wait. What should I be doing in the meantime to prepare for the moment? How should I proceed when I first get it? How do I care for it for storage and cleaning when others live in my home?

    Hi!
Austin is an amazing toy! I would recommend warming up with the toy you already own before switching to the BD, this will reduce the chance of you overstretching with the knot. Other than that, just have fun!

Cleaning should just be water and neutral soup. If you really want it ultra clean you can use bleach, but I have never found it necessary. Just be sure to not use silicone based lubes and you should be fine!

Will have a lot of time between now and when I get the toy to research and buy the soap. I'm kinda hesitant when you mention using bleach. Wouldn't that drain the colour from the toy?

My other toy's about the same thickness as Austin's shaft, actually, so the warm up would be mostly for depth.

The thing to be aware with soaps is that sometimes they include moisturizers for hands, you don't want those (in the rare case they mix some kind of silicone based moisturizer.)

About bleaching I've done it twice in maybe 4 years on my oldest toy. So I don't do it often and I'm not aware of color or silicone degradation. Also you should follow the diluting instructions for disinfecting not just full bleach out of the gallon... Just google "bleach dilution disinfection" and you will get a .pdf from 3M explaining it in full detail.

Of course you can also boil the toys, might be easier..

If you go the route of bleaching your toy, use a 10:1 mixture of water:bleach; IE, 1 cup bleach in 10 cups of water. Let it soak for a solid 20 minutes, including inside of your cumtube (use your included syringe to back-pull your water bleach mixture into the tube). Then thoroughly rinse it, pushing LOTS of clean water through the tube too! Last thing you want is bleach residue in your tube when you go to play. Bleach shouldn't affect the coloring of your toy though, especially with this ratio.

Or, another super effective way of truly cleaning your toy would be boiling it in a pot of water for 20 minutes or run it in your dishwasher (which may not be an option for you, as mentioned in your living situation.) However, if you look on BD's website, they even encourage boiling as a cleaning option. https://bad-dragon.com/pages/body-safe-silicone-toys

If all else fails, BD also offers a toy cleaner. As for me, a good ol' antibacterial hand soap gets the job done. I do an occasional boil to all of my toys every few months, for my own peace of mind. But truth be told, you don't -really- need to boil/bleach your toy(s) unless you find it absolutely unsanitary and in need of it being sterilized, or if you sell it used on the forum or reddit, etc. I'm the only user of my toys, so to me, not a big deal to sterilize my own stuff. But to each their own!

I would recommend storing your BD toy away from your current collection, or at least give it it's own little storage bag of some sort so it doesn't rest in contact with your other toys. Depending on the materials used in other toys, they could damage your new Austin.

My Austin is my go-to toy when I want a nice, easy knot to take. It's knot design is tapered, so its MUCH easier to slip in once you've reached that point. Just remember to go slow, use plenty of lube, and enjoy it! Taking any kind of knot, whether tapered or extreme, can take some time and multiple sessions before conquering. If it hurts, relax and you'll figure it out, you know your body best! The last thing you want to do is go crazy and force it in too soon, potentially hurting and/or damaging yourself, resulting in pain and the opposite of a pleasurable toy sesh.

Just don't go too crazy during the wait time! I'm on 6+ weeks for my most recent purchase (a soft XL Nox with cumtube).

    UPDATE!

So, it finally came in today and convinced roommates that it was a gift for someone else so they wouldn't ask questions.
Since ordering it on Sept. 20, it took a little over a month and ten days for it to arrive. Sadly, I can't really play with it until maybe this weekend (I hope!), but I do have the opportunity to give it the necessary first rinse and appreciate it.

My first thought: "Wow, this is a bit thicker than I expected. Maybe a little more so on the shaft that my other toy..."
Followed by my second thought: "Hehe, wow, it's pretty squishy, more so than my other toy!"

With a little session and a liberal amount of lube, I think I should have no issue taking up to, at least, the knot without assistance. I'll keep you guys posted.

I hope you enjoy it! I've taken a few knotted toys before, but am waiting for my first Austin as well. It's a great looking model and I think had more depth then the other knotted toys I have. What color did you get yours in?
