I'd probably be too shy to actually go to a fur con...

It helps to go with a friend. I've been to two con-like things, and only felt comfortable at the furry one, where I knew my friends were there.

    Adult Mac & Cheese:
Put 2 1/2 cups milk and 2 bay leaves in a small saucepan. Turn to medium. Do not let boil.
Cook 1lb good macaroni in a large pot.
Put 3tbs butter in a medium saucepan, turn to medium-high. When the butter is slightly browned, add 3tbs of flour. Whisk slowly for five minutes, until the flour starts to turn brown. In small scoops (about 1/3 cup) transfer the milk to the flour mixture, stirring after each pour until smooth. Make sure you take the bay leaves out. When all the milk is gone, if you did it right, you'll have a smooth, thick white sauce. Take off the heat. Add 1 1/2 cups sharp white cheese (cheddar is fine, but I like a flagship myself).

Pour the sauce and the macaroni into a greased casserole dish. Add 1/2 cup flavorful cheese (I've used Parmesan, Fontina, Gruyere. Blue cheese is interesting, but halve it with Parmesan. Ricotta makes things extra creamy) and, if you must have meat, 1/4 cup diced cappacola. Toss gently. Top with 3/4 cup panko, and bake for 15 minutes or until the panko starts to turn brown. Serve hot.

Before you add the second cheese, you can split the recipe into smaller ramekins and let each family member choose their own second cheese instead.

My family has insisted on this recipe once every two weeks for the past 15 years. I've got it memorized.

I don't know if I'd bring toys unless I was very sure there was someone there to play with them there. Then again, I'm aging and decrepit and only interesting to young, insecure furries with serious Daddy issues. :p

Yeah, cons are so awkward going by yourself.

In other news, I'm incredibly angry right now and hope I can make it through the day before I have a mental collapse and set something on fire.

What would be more awkward is breaking up at a con. I know someone that had that happen.

In other news, I'm all fitted for Haunt. Have a mask, would have preferred makeup. Something like half the maze got makeup this year, the other two mazes that were at the fitting were basically 100% makeup and the vampires all get a prosthetic forehead ridge.

Yeah, at the one where I didn't know anyone, I freaked out and had to get picked up. It sucks because it was something I was really wanted to do, and won't be happening again any time soon if ever again. Plus it was forty bucks and I only got to stay there for ten minutes before I had to leave...

    I thought the same thing.
Then I came home with about 89 new friends.

Cons just...do something weird to you. Maybe it's the alcohol. Maybe it's all the fantastic people.

I'd love to go with a con, but only with a friend... it feels better when you can share the experience with someone. Awkward to go to stranger. As for dressing up for a con? I suppose... I lost my two tails but I can probably pick another one up (despite the fact that the company I used no long makes the one I liked... so it was kinda rare), but I do have a wolf mask. It's made of leather but its stiff... it becomes more malleable after it's laid against the skin for a time, conforming to the shape of the face.
If a con becomes more of a thing with me, I'd probably do a latex and makeup job to create a muzzle and do my face. It requires more work, but I think would be worth it.
Cause you know it's be weird wearing a bow tie and a fez. (saw like 20 of those at the Reniassacne Fair... wtf?).

Yeah, going with a friend - especially for your first time - is kind of an essential.
I have a suit I like to dress up in, but really, my favorite parts are the hotel parties and giggling with new people after I've had a few beers in me!

I could go to a con alone. I do basically everything else alone, so why not a con?

I really might retire from FFXI once the seekers of audolin story wraps up (one last set left) though I still have a few things to do at this point I don't really care anymore, I can't stand most players now as most are all about end game, elitists or both, its just not fun anymore. I been playing 14 via the 30 day trial I got with the disk my boyfriend sent me and I'm slowly getting into it, elitists there seem to hub together on like 1 or 2 servers so I can play casual all I want without being made fun of. I'll still roleplay stuff from XI tho I really like the lore, but once the final update for seekers is up and I finish it I'm retiring from Vana'Diel and going to Erozia.

Never have I thought I would but I am, it has changed big time since I started in 2006 and is no longer new or returning player friendly unless you are an elitist or have elitist friends, oh just party to level up? LOLNOPE that died in 2011, now we have trusts, hell even doll & worm parties are pretty much dead too, its good for reliving a bit of nostalgia but what I and many joined is long gone. I might pop on during the free weeks every so often but thats it.

Though I will miss my Galka's tail.

As for the topic of conventions I rather not go alone, I just don't trust strangers plus I hate big crowds (more so afraid of big crowds) but I'd like to go to PAX Prime at least once to meet my favorite lets players.

I went to geek con alone. And I plan to go to cider fest alone.

Gag so much saving to do for that badge! ;3; if I have money left over from my tattoo or if I hold off on the tattoo I can get the $200 badge

Yeah, I'm usually a doesn't-speak-until-spoken-to kinda introvert, but y'couldn't tell that if I'm at a con. Bouncin' around, chatting with folks, complimenting what they're wearing... though I've got so many people who recognize me from my glasses and I have trouble remembering them, haha. I'm shite at face recognition until I see folks a whole bunch. Like, changing clothes makes them a whole new person to my brain. But so long as I tell folks that early on-- "hey, don't take this the wrong way, but you're probably gonna have to remind me who you are"-- they're generally cool with it.
