Hey All,
We just finished out meeting, we reviewed all of the survey results and all of your comments in both threads about the shutdown. After a lot of discussion we have come to a decision that most of you will appreciate. Varka is writing up a summary of what we decided and will be posting that within the next few hours, followed by a question and answer thread.

Most of us will appreciate... hm.
So maybe they'll keep the forums up like normal [or tweak some things but still keep them up in general], or at the very least will archive the forums that don't involve anything BD related and keep them readable while the reviews and labs boards are still active?

 

im actually 50/50 i want this forum to take off and explode i think we could have a better community

 

I think so too. I also hate the forum restrictions that are ALREADY in place at BD. No sigs, no games, no fun. D<
I can only imagine if they keep the forums they'll just get more strict.

If Varka decides that the forums stay, how many of you think you will still be active here?

A pretty big part of me still likes the idea of chilling out here...it's SO much more relaxed, more fun (forum games, hello?! 8D) As well as easier to use (having both a sell AND looking for threads)

But I won't wanna hang out around here if no one else does. :c

 

Same. It'd be boring here if nobody else stays, but I really am hoping we can kind of... well, more or less say fuck you to BD because they pretty much did the same to us on Monday. Takin' us for granted and all that. Plus, you said it, this place is tons more relaxed and fun.
I'm doubting they'll keep the forums as they are and change nothing, and I'm quite certain what they DO change will just put more restrictions on everyone. They sure as hell aren't going to make it the great fun place it once was.

 

With how many questions there were regarding the 'Off Topic' forums, I highly doubt they will even allow casual non-company related discussion anymore anyways.

Besides, dropping a bomb like...losing the forums forever on us with NO warning or consideration for us is a total dick move. No one can sit there and pretend it's not.

 

Ex-fucking-actly. You took the words out of my mouth. Doing that was just a huge slap in the face and that is also exactly what I think they'll do. Make the forums strictly BD related and nothing else. Meh. I'm over it. They can do what they want but I'm going to keep trying to breathe life into this forum and keep the flame alight while we start out. I like it here too much already. And I can't even begin to name all of the things I don't like about what is going on at the BD forums.

Like I mentioned in the WOYM thread, I'd rather stay here. I'm done giving BD business, and other than seeing where the shitstorm ends I'm done with their forums as well. This is just better.

 

I don't think I can look at the bd forums the same way again. If they get rid of the off topics, I don't see why they couldn't both exist because this IS the off topic section. I don't like their ideas for 3rd-party/unrelated forums. I don't know how anyone else felt about that. But if they did that I don't think I'd join unless absolutely everyone I care about went. But I still feel betrayed by Varka and the big bigs there.

 

I would not go back if the off topic section was closed down. I'd rather just have everyone in one place, and I'm opting for this place. They don't deserve our community or our insights. I'd rather see reviews and off topic threads and everything in between all in one place and I'd rather have it here. A community by the people, for the people!
I really can't see BD doing a damn thing to make us all forgive them and come running back. They're going to change things, and while it may not be the worst possible solution, it still isn't going to be a good one. I mean, really, what can they offer that will make us happy aside from saying the forums will be left as they currently are (and add more staff presence)? I don't think they will. By and large, they're not the greatest of listeners.

Yeah. They've certainly lost my faith in them (and they had it before, man). They're better of just finishing the job. It's like they're halfway through seppuku. If you take the sword out, you're not going to go back to the way it was before.

 

Definitely. I mean, they've really jerked us around a lot on this whole shut down thing. First they give us deadlines, then say they'll reconsider, then take the forum link off the main site, and in between all of it continue to give bullshit excuses and say next to nothing in a sincere way.
They're shit communicators, that's for sure. Varka especially. -_-

 

I don't really see how this solves their issue though, the original shutdown announcement made it seem like the issue wasn't so much the forums itself as it was the feedback, suggestions, etc. that they were producing requiring interaction. Keeping the forums sans the off topic sections doesn't really mitigate that at all, especially since the past few months the BD staff hasn't really been active in the off topic boards anyways.

 

That does make sense, but based on what they've said in the past, I assumed the whole time it was primarily the off topic section that was causing the most issues. That's where the really taboo topics get brought up (certain fetishes) and it's also where the drama happens, which I think is what BD is trying to step away from. But we'll see what they do. I'm not particularly optimistic.

Eh, if it is because of discussions on the off topic board straying into taboo territory then this whole thing is silly. They sell dragon dicks ffs.
