I can honestly say the only reason I will ever tread back on the BD forums is to check for toy related things ONLY. If I want to hangout and chat, its gonna be here

 

I'm just wondering who these disruptive, childish, vocal minority are. I don't remember seeing anything posted that was childish or disruptive, just people posting their honest feelings, often fueled by emotion. They made a decision that had a large impact on a significant group of people, and they really expected people to not be upset?

 

I think they might've been referring to past occurrences of people being childish.

 

I don't know, he refers 3-4 times to the people posting over the past few days as childish, flaming, disruptive vocal minority. It really feels like a backhanded gift. It's as if they are saying "hey we're doing this great thing for you guys, but anyone who critiques us is still an asshole."

 

After seeing the announcement, I might view the threads every now and then but I'm not posting anything else on that board again.

 

And Off-Topic, where I know more than a few of us spent a LOT of time, is going to be cut back? Yeah. Think it's time for BD Lurker Mode to activate.

 

I almost feel like they never really planned on getting rid of the forums, but just did this whole thing to scare people into making their own forums, so they can "cut back" on the Off Topic section.

 

hmm that's reaching a bit, I don't think they'd give a flying fart if we made our own forums or not
and if they did, they would announce it officially rather than causing the shitstorm they did

 

That's probably giving them WAY too much credit. If they didn't realize this would hurt their business, there's no way they were smart enough to plan that far ahead...

It does make you wonder how any of them saw closing the forums as a good, positive direction for the company. I mean, even with less than 200 members, this place is starting to hop; I can only imagine what 2k users would do.

 

Well you have to take into consideration how many of those BD accounts are actually active. This place is pretty much 100% active users only

 

I won't lie, I understand people getting emotional over losing what can be considered a home, but there was definitely some more hostile posts in that original thread.

And I honestly think people are over thinking this, this isn't some derp conspiracy by the company, it's them fucking up, big time, and honestly believing people wouldn't blow up as much as they did. Either or, the original reasoning, whatever the reason, doesn't really matter anymore, they made a choice, it horribly backfired and now they're stuck trying to re-kindle the flame.

In the process, they lost people, even with keeping the forums up some people won't go back, chances are I'm one of them. Chances are I'll spend way more time here then over there!

 

I have to agree here. us making our own thread being their ultimate goal from a ruse like that is a bit on the tin foil hat side of the fence.
odds are they were serious and too "busy" to deal with their customer base, so they flippantly told us to fuck off (more or less) then back peddled in the face of the imminent shit storm (imminent? more like in-progress now) and then tried to save face (and their money) while continuing their tradition of looking like they're always in the right all the while crying victim for good measure.
in years to come, the name "bad-Dragon" will become synonymous with "major fuckup" for businesses, complete with its own entry in urban dictionary.

 

I'm tempted to start a rough draft for that Urban Dictionary entry.

I don't know how happy I should be about it.. I kinda like it better here, having signatures abain and it becoming a healthy community again and stuff like that. Which doesn't seem important to BD at all.

 

The thing they don't seem to understand is how important those offtopic forums are. Sure the BD related forums are good for the company and good for people investigating purchases or looking to improve their experience. But I believe the offtopic forums are what keep people active and coming back. Otherwise you'd probably end up with a bunch of people who only show up to the forums when they have a review to share or if they have a question about a product. With the offtopic forum the way it was, you have a bunch of people showing up and chatting there, and while they are on the forums already, spend some time checking other BD relevant threads and throw in their two cents, or post a question they've been wondering because they're on the forums already.
