I'm not sure trying to explain monogomy to a poly person seems like a good objective haha. Difference of opinions.

There was a really good article called Why You Need To Start Talking More About Non-Monogamy, Even If It's Not Your Thing, which I highly recommend to anyone trying to explain anything to anyone else. It's really important for people to realize that society has you in a rut. Being able see out of the rut is important, even if you like being in it.

 

I can say from my expirence with trying to have multiple partners didn't work as they didn't act the way I wanted them to. It was more like I didn't tell anyone anything about anyone else lol. But either way, they weren't right and it didn't feel right. I prefer monogamy as I always fantasize about having someone constantly being there for me and pleasing me and I them. It feels right to think that way.

 

"You can choose non-monogamy and navigate jealousy, or you can choose monogamy and navigate boredom" Not all monogamous relationships are boring and not every non-monogamous partner is jealous.
And about the point of trying out. I see it this way:
1-I have never ever fallen in love with more than 1 person at the same time.
2-Non-monogamy is often presented as a remedy to "bored to fuck with your usual partner, allow you both to have sex with other people and build a strong friendship in this love stronghold", good. If I have sex with someone, it's because I really really reaaaaally appreciate that person and I'd give my all for them. So I expect the same back.
3-I'm jealous, sorry. Cannot deal with making plans and having them destroyed because someone decided to "steal" my partner&I time, which I usually plan 2 weeks before.
This said, why should I try to discover wether I like or not non-monogamous relationships. I had to try homo to make sure but this is pretty clear that I would suffer.
Lastly, no offense but sometimes polyamory seem like the vegans of love. I have had 2 polyamoris trying to get their way of thinking
stuffed upon my ass. One told me that I don't like sex because I'm boring or I have a trauma. Supercomprehensive and respectful people.

 

Anyone can be pushy about anything. I've known people who were annoying about veganism, and people who never mentioned it unless they had to (like at a restaurant.) Same for polyamory, same for whatever else. So that's not even really a thing.

Not sure yet what kind of relationship style actually suits me. I used to think monogamy was it, but that turned out to be not quite right. Don't really want multiple commitments (since it's hard enough for me to commit to even one person) but hell yeah I'll shop around and have multiple partners goin on. I can't seem to stick to just one person these days. Doesn't mean I think monogamy is bad, I've seen it work. Just doesn't work for me right now.

As for being a remedy for boredom, those people are doing it wrong. No lie. They're the same kinds of people who cheat on their partner then ask for an open relationship when they're caught. If you actually want that stuff, you say so up front before you make any moves about it. That goes without saying for anything relationship wise, no matter what type of structure you've got going (or want to have going.)

So yeah, bottom line is don't take the actions of a few and paint the whole group in that color. My personal rule is something like: if someone with a certain set of values is being a jerkass, it doesn't necessarily mean it's the fault of those values so much as they're just an asshole. Some people just are.

I have accomplished Bronze and gotten to Silver after losing several of my placements because of trolls or ragers. :'D I AM NOW FREE. FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Woke up bright and early today (4:45AM), made breakfast, got my supplements and lunch for the day all ready, got to the gym at 6, officially joined, ran my cardio for the day, hit the coffee shop and now I'm off to work! Really enjoying these earlier, more productive days.
