I bought some fresh roasted pine nuts from a street side vendor on my bike outing today. I was so excited, haven't had any in years!
When I got home, I was deeply disappointed to find that they were hardly roasted at all. I should have known better, seeing how she was roasting them, never seen that method before.
From now on, I'm never buying pinon seeds, from anyone but Navaho or Pueblo people! Now they know how to roast pinon nuts!

 

I'd rather have a graphics tablet.

Just finished up my first real assignment of the year, nothing too bad, but i't a preliminary part of much bigger assignment, so I'm glad to have it out of the way. Now I can relax a bit before I start on the next preliminary assignment for the much bigger assignment later on in the year.... yay.....
And now I'm too mentally tired to get up and go make food... bleh >.<

Do you have any easy, in house techniques for roasting pinion nuts?
All I have ever seen, was using a tumbler over an open flame.

 

Today was interesting. I got my pre-order of Skylanders Trap Force, and some things to go with it (money sink). And... I found out my rat had babies. She must have been pregnant when I brought her home. I went to clean out her cage and when I moved her tube into the holding cage, out slid 3 pink babies. I about shat myself.
So... now they're in there with a towel partially over the cage and heat pad because she can't move them back into the tube, or at least hasn't. And I don't want to stress her out because I have cats, and I don't want the cats looking at her babies.
Not that I know what I'll do if any of them are boys.......

 

I am, well, terrified. I was lucky enough to inherit my mother's optimism, but I've been so bummed out, so low, since getting back here that a couple days ago I started questioning if things were going to get better. The last time I did that was our first year in Connecticut when I felt absolutely alone and cold and it progressed a bit further then that (actually, last time I felt like I was going to give up when I "reached out" to Lizzy, who just like always made absolutely everything just disappear when talking with her and gave me enough of a break to regather myself,) and on the 11th my mom and little brother are leaving until the 17th to go to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, so yeah, I'm terrified.

 

Jury duty tomorrow, but Drag Queen Bingo Tuesday makes up for it.

 

I'm off for another turnaround! I'll stop by from my phone once in a while. I should be gone for between three days and a week, depending on how much there is to do.

 

it is possible to do them in the oven. rinse them and spread them evenly on a baking sheet, in the oven at 325*F, check them often. sometimes they'll be done in 10 minutes, sometimes up to 30 minutes. make sure to stir and taste test them often, if you just set a timer and walk off they're probably gonna burn.

 

I actually found Jury Duty to be a very interesting experience, and a good break from my job/routine.

 

Thanks, I thought to try that, but was unsure of the temp. EDIT: Pretty much the same method I use for roasting pumpkin seeds, only using salt water to rinse.
She was using a small 1 quart sauce pan, on a camp burner, obviously not for nearly long enough.

This is going to be the third time I've been summoned. Both times before I wasn't chosen, so it was eight hours of sitting in the waiting room.

 

Think I might go to bed early tonight. It's cold here, and I'm in an absolute crap mood now anyway. All I want to do is sleep when that happens.
