Exactly, well put Keely. I'm pretty sure everyone upset with this also felt betrayed and dumped like trash... I know I did...

 

Both @Keely and @~Tempest-in-Chains~ make very good points that build on each other well. Keely's lays out the basics and Tempest's gets a little more in depth in a way that I feel is very needed when talking about abusive tactics.

I'm feeling a bit conflicted. I've been steering clear from the original forums ever since the announcement. I don't really feel like going back after I managed to get somewhat settled in here. The appeal has just dried up and withered. I also don't really feel like taking equal part in two forums that basically cover the same things. We'll see what happens.

Well, honestly, I'm actually glad to hear most of you are still weary about BD.
The victim blaming shit is not cool and someone ought to call Varka on it if they haven't already (I haven't been watching the old forums). Seriously, how can they be upset at us for voicing our issues when they up and said they were closing down the forums as they did? What to heck???

If it's anything like the last time members made a splinter forum, *ahem* Expats, most will go back to the original forums and everyone will forget anything ever happened. Until an admin or staff member does/says something someone doesn't like. That person will make a big shit about it, rabble rabble rabble, new forum, cycle continues.

Anyway, that's just my opinion and observation.

I dunno, I don't think so this time, I think that this was big enough to keep those of us who migrated over here away, especially with Varka's responses putting a passive aggressive context to it all.

It is too damn early for me to be up, ughhh. Gotta run to the airport tho.

 

Currently I'm trying to figure out how to go about working out. I have really bad joints that are in pain a lot of the time, which complicates my life. I'm looking into beginner dumbell exercises... I want to start swimming again as exercise but I don't know where to find a supportive swimsuit.

 

I don't want to over-police here but I just want to make sure that this doesn't just devolve into a hate-forum on BD, just so that BDC doesn't get in trouble or shut down. So we might want to keep discussion of that stuff on the BD NEWS thread. Otherwise I could make a BD Forum Shutdown debate thread in the debates and games section if that is what you'd prefer.

 

I think a BD Shutdown Debate thread would be best if people want to talk about it.

 

Some people already have called them on it, though the jury's out on how the mods will react.

 

as much as it irks me to say so, the two forms can not exactly be equivalent. Things like the lab and voting and announcements for the product lines will primarily be on the original forum, youd only be getting the information second hand from here. That's why I'm only going on the original forum for toy stuff only

 

this. I'll monitor the old ones to check for announcements and sales threads and maybe some posting but I've basically migrated over here and to frisky beast and so far here is about as busy as the old forum and is much nicer to boot

 

Hm, from reading BD forums, it seems they will be locking and archiving off-topic sub-section. So only "official" stuff will be left. Shame. I was hoping they will be left, since it was a place where about 90% of my posts were xD

Most of them never returned to BD if I'm right. At that time, the reasons to make a splinter forum were very different though. This time I don't feel like it's the big group of popular kids leaving, it's more of a "hey, we're concerned about the forums / off topic being removed, so we're making a place that's as open as BD used to be"
