Yeah I am kinda bummed this forum doesn't support gifs. :I I mean it does, when you go to the profile you can see the gif... But the small previews don't.

Speaking of which, reminds me of the old forums. What do you guys think of the new admin over there?

Yeah there's a new admin named Dave. He seems a lot more competent and intelligent than Audax. I mean, Audax could be nice, but it seems like this guy really has his priorities straight. :I I am excited to see the change he brings.

I know I'm going to catch flak for this, but it really annoys me.

Does anyone else not see someone "coming out" as a big deal? I obviously have no problem with homosexuality (I wouldn't be on these forums if I did), but I don't see why its so important to make it publically known that someone is gay, be it an athlete, celebrity, or just a normal person. I just don't see why its such a big deal.

My personal opinion is that it shouldn't be a big deal, but there are two parties involved: the revealer, and the audience. The revealer has control over how big of a deal it is to them, but the audience may have a different opinion. (It shouldn't matter what my religious beliefs are, but the shitstorm that will result if/when I tell my family certainly makes the phrase "coming out" appropriate.) As for whether a celebrity should allow their preferences to be known: the more people who come out, the more it will eventually be seen as commonplace, but those first steps are hard. If you know of a way for a politician to casually mention they're gay and NOT have it make the front page of the newspapers, I think there are some PR people out there who'd like to talk to you :)

same here, I'm bi and have a boyfriend and told my family and a few friends about it in random conversation. to me it's like if one of my friends told me they liked thai food or a certain kind of music. to me my sexuality does not determine my entire personality and how I express myself, most people who know me would never guess I have a boyfriend because I "act too straight" even though I don't constantly throw the word gay and faggot around at people like pocket change. the fact that I can be attracted to males and females and a bunch of other identities as long as someone is a nice person is not my only defining characteristic, which some people seem to treat it like it is. if your entire personality and how you act is so wrapped up in your own sexuality that you don't have any other interests than just what your sexuality stereotypically enjoys, that just baffles me.

In my opinion there's a middle ground between hiding what you are and advertising what you are that I like to call living your life.

Maybe I'm being ambitious but I'm thinking when I get some real money (up to 20k) I'll ask a hitman to gently ask bad dragon and a real sex doll company to join. Just to make me a life size Janine, you know.

I don't know. I just feel like the person actually admitting that they're gay should be able to do so without everyone crowding around, praising them, and holding them up on a pedestal. I'm sure most people who do, don't want people spreading the word, and those that do are just in it for the attention.

I came out as trans to my mom so I wouldn't worry about keeping something from her. It made my anxiety worse than it was. When I told her I felt better, when she was cool with it I felt even better. :)

There was a conversation just like this on another thread. The only reason coming out formally is necessary at all is basically to find out who your true allies and enemies are. its true it shouldn't be that way and that everyone should just be cool or okay with it, but that's not the world we live in right now

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that do, for some reason or another, have a problem with homosexuality, and sometimes it can change how people view/treat you in many ways. You really don't know if/how people are going to change knowing that you're gay. This isn't a big deal when telling more or less strangers, but the potential negative effect it can have on how your family, friends, co-workers ect. can be be damn frightening. Basically, it takes balls to come out when it really shouldn't have to, and thats why people tend to commend those that do…

Makes sense. People have their own reasons for it, be it finding out who your true friends are, or just accepting yourself. It just shouldn't be a big deal, or make a difference whether someone is straight or gay.

    Anyway, next subject.
