My store puts candy on sale the afternoo of Halloween. They have to get it cleared out ASAP to get all the Christmas stuff put up

 

My day has been a roller coaster. Headed out to work early: Good means I can enjoy some breakfast. Car runs out of gas on the exit ramp 30 miles early: FUCK. Cop arrives to give me gas: Good. Finally get all the details on my job interview tomorrow: Okay. I have to wear a dress shirt and slacks: ME. I had to buy a dress shirt and slacks: WITH A CACTUS. Now I realize that I don't know which office the interview is at, the company that set it up or the company that I am interviewing for: THAT IS ON FIRE

I know dressing up for an interview should be no big thing but, for me it is. They don't feel comfortable or look good on me. They look out of place, I feel like I am dying a little every time I wear dress clothes.

 

Why does no one seem to appreciate Thanksgiving anymore. National be-a-fatass day is my favorite holiday. You can be a complete fat ass and no one will think anything weird of it, no one will make fun of you, NO ONE CARES! IT'S GREAT! Also pumpkin pie, OH MAN do I love me some pumpkin pie

In other news, the new kid at work is clearly quitting. I thought he would, but he just seemed to give up today for no reason. I have no idea why. He had started to realize how much WORK our job is though, and he's too much of an instant-gratification type to do it.

 

Gotta love pumpkin pie!! Even better: the ingredients are available year round, and if you make it without the crust, it can actually be pretty healthy. Just be careful: it's not as filling without the crust, so it's easy to eat WAY too much.

@Robert Thompson : Wait...you were shopping with a cactus?! Or was that a figure of speech? Ugh, and I know what you mean (at least, on the feminine-clothing side): whenever I get dressed up in business attire, I either feel slutty or frumpy, can't find anything that just looks sharp.

 

You should rock a pair of wing tips like a boss. Why heels were determined to be business wear I can't understand.

 

Oh yes, I LOVE Thanksgiving. That and Christmas are my two favorite holidays~ My whole family gets together, and does lots of cooking and we trade stories about other family members who haven't arrived yet/can't come/left early. We talk about all sort of stuff and it always ends up in half the family just sitting around the table laughing up a storm making lighthearted banter. If it's Christmas, this process also involves free shit~

I hate dressing up. I hate dress codes. I feel that it is an attack upon my soul right now. I hate to conform to social standards. Just because this job requires a degree should not mean that I have to sacrifice comfort. The clothes feel itchy and stiff and they require to be tucked in. So my options are to have it crush my stomach whenever I sit down or show off my gut. I hate either option

 

Thanks giving is best holiday and the fat red bastard can stay at home.

 

By the sounds of it, you're either not wearing the right kinds of nice clothes, or not wearing the nice clothes right. I'm no good at giving specific advice on the subject myself, but if you have a particularly well-dressed friend, ask for some tips on finding things that are both comfortable AND professional. You'd be surprised how much you can express your own personality while still within expected guidelines. :3

 

A fair point. Part of my problem is that I hate clothes shopping, and I get really impatient. Once I've tried on 8 pairs of pants and none of them work, I can't bring myself to trudge on over to the next department store. I just throw up my hands and go home. EDIT: I forgot a key ingredient...COST. You can find some nice stuff if you're willing to go to the right place and spend a little cash. Quality, Ease of shopping, Cheap: you can choose two.

Dress clothes just seem to be really unforgiving, without a lot of flexibility for body types or preferences, and while women get stuck with high heels, it seems like it's worse for guys. At least I can choose skirts vs. slacks, classy tanktops + jacket vs. blouse, etc, while guys are all stuck with one uniform.

 

If you have the money for it, you should get custom-tailored clothing. It will fit infinitely better, and LOOK infinitely better as well. And women don't HAVE to wear high heels. There are plenty of dressy flats out there
