So this legendary food has other tastes. Pity I have no idea where to find them in the UK.

Other news - it turns out that IT job I was gonna snatch, isn't available yet xD I mean, it will be but later. Still gonna apply as soon as I notice recruitment is open though.

I do find it frustrating (and rather underhanded) that universities make you pay for courses that you don't actually need for your degree: I was paying for a physics degree, and I had already spent several semesters' worth of time in high school learning basic English and World History--why do I have to sit through them again? On the other hand, I was very surprised at how valuable some of these extra courses turned out to be. Not so much the "standard-looking" ones (like English and basic History), but the off-the-beaten path ones: Japanese culture, Phantom of the Opera, history of world languages, classism in America, etc. I was really surprised to realize how many prejudices I'd been lugging around and couldn't even see them, and it's just plain interesting to see connections pop out of the woodwork that I never would have noticed otherwise. I'm still a bit resentful that they essentially blackmailed me into paying and working in classes I didn't ask for, but I have found myself referencing some of those classes far more than my core curriculum ones over the years.

Back to less useful courses, I still have the phrase "Saxum ego! Insula qui etiam!" memorized from my Latin class, 10 years later. (I've probably got the spelling wrong, but I sure remember how to pronounce it.) "I am a rock! I am an iiiiii-iiiisland!!" Simon & Garfunkel in Latin: a life skill.

Damn getting old is tough. I used to be super stoked about it bieng my birthday soon, and now I practically had to be reminded yeaterday a day before. It doesn't even feel any different than any other day. (Which did make me a wee bit sad btw)

Other than that, I treated myself with a copy of Super Smash Bros. 3DS. AND ITS AWESOME!!

I'll worry about broadening my mind when I have the rent payed, food in the fridge, and no debt.
considering the class fees for those are like $300 I think they make you take them to get more money

Referring to a couple of pages back, you know, I've never even met anyone else who is vegan.
I seriously don't understand all these people who spout stories about how obnoxious and stupid vegans are outside of your usual trolls.

I want my moneys NOW. Usually I'd get them around 5th of the month, rarely on 6th. And they're still not here.

trust me, when you do meet one you'll know it almost immediately, especially if you're eating lunch, even if you're vegetarian, they'll still give you shit

Funny, I saw this gif a moment ago on another website. Destiny? I think so :D But first thing that strolled through my mind is 'can I tell whether this person is male or female?'

Out of curiosity (I'm not disputing you; I genuinely don't have any knowledge either way), are we sure this isn't a...what's the right term...a sampling bias? Sort of like how some people think all gay men behave a certain way: they only notice those with unusual mannerisms, and don't realize how many of their friends might be non-straight and just don't make a big deal of it. Polite vegans could be common and just go unnoticed.

Pffft…. Vegans aren't all that bad, though I may be biased (being a vegetarian). Theres always a few vocal jerks in every group thats passionate about something, but every single vegan I've ever known is rather chill about it. It's just really easy to call a small minority such as them crazy.

Nope. Because the vegans/vegetarians that don't do that, you will not know about that they're vegan/vegetarian.

I know I don't give anyone grief about it. :/
It makes me uncomfortable to see non-vegans eating the things they do, but I don't make a huge hoo-hah about it. It just seems like a stereotype that comes from zealousness of a minority like any other kind of lifestyle.

I imagine that's got to be a very uncomfortable position to be in: depending on your perspective, non-veganism is, well, animal abuse, yet it's so commonly accepted. I don't think I could calmly eat my dinner while someone from another culture ate, say, a cat.

I tried going for some degree of vegetarianism a few years ago, and pretty much ended up sobbing* on the grocery store floor when I realized how difficult it was going to be to eat cruelty-free. (Doesn't help that Memphis is the BBQ capital of the USA... I had ONE restaurant with this awesome tofu dish, and they discontinued it.) I finally gave up and just tried to, er..."soften"...my dietary habits to something morally tolerable: minimal meat, cage-free eggs**, that sort of thing. (*That is an exaggeration :p **Yeah, I know "cage-free" can be misleading; I do my research before buying.)

Tip for even non-vegetarians: Take a can of garbanzo beans (chick peas), drain and rinse, mix them with one of those spice packs for meat (like one of these: http://www.amazon.com/McCormick-Grill-Special-Marinades-Seasoning/dp/B00KFL8VYG/ref=sr_1_3/180-5816858-6824605?ie=UTF8&qid=1415306533&sr=8-3&keywords=mccormick grill mates), wrap in foil, and bake in the oven till they're hot. Be sure to put it in a pan since the foil can get punctured easily and drip. Fast, easy, cheap, tasty, healthy, and absolutely guilt free.
