I felt much the same way when I quit as a Second Class Scout. I had everything I needed to make First Class, but due to inside politics at the time, I was deemed ineligible.

I hear that a lot from you it seems. Whats on your plate for today?

 

I've got some errands I need to run before heading to work again, as well as finish up some school work.
It's been pretty busy as of late.

 

Well, I hope you find a way to un-busy yourself and get some time to relax.

For me today, I should really get some gas for my car and maybe a car wash. It's covered with pollen....

 

Found a nice metal helm to fight with...will buy it next month and delay my BD purchase even further XD.

I made it to life scout without really putting any effort or giving a shit about progressing and when I told one of the newer adults that was living vicariously through his kid's forced achievments that I didn't care about getting eagle scout I almost expected his brain to melt and start dribbling out his ears lol

 

From all the stories I've heard it's a love it or hate it organization. That said I actually have 2 tales of misery.

We have a 'local' week long camp in my area (it's in Chester CA) and when I was growing up that place was just nothing but magic and wonder. So much fun was had. I even had my Eagle Court of Honor up there on the lakeside, so I really loved that place. I think it was 2011 when my sister went up to work there (I had to do summer school) and she was having a blast being on staff. That is of course until they decided to lay off about half of staff at the start of the last week. Basically the woman that books which troops go which weeks was giving everyone and their dog favors and this caused every week except for the last one to be ridiculously overbooked. So a lot of good people got fired because someone else handed favors out like condoms at a college campus.

My own personal story starts the next summer when I worked up there. Again I was expecting it to be magic and wonder. WRONG. I basically ended up working for the equivalent of half of minimum wage, assuming a 40 hour week. And I wasn't even working 40 hours, it was closer to 70. The way they got away with this was by putting everyone on a weekly salary. And on top of that the main commissioner guy's family was basically in charge of the place; Him, Wife, Oldest sister (complete idiot), oldest Son (the only sane one), young son, and young daughter. The problem with the young ones was that because daddy was in charge They were in charge even though they were 10 or something. My area boss was a complete dumbass too. I was working in the waterfront, and in the WF there is an area where people can swim all happy with their buddy(s) and it's all roped off and so on. But you can also go into the middle of the lake by boat if you want to do the mile swim. There was a kid doing the mile and when he was done HE JUST SWAM BACK. He left his buddy in the boat by himself then he came back BY HIMSELF to the swimming area. I fucking tore him a new one, probably shouted at him for a good 5 minutes about what a dumbass he is. The reason we caught him was because we did a buddy check and he was in the swimming area without a buddy, and during a check you just stand by your buddy so the staff can count people, You know just to make sure no one died. Then after I'm done ripping him a new one, my boss says to the kid "you'd better get out of here soon before people know it was you [that caused this mess]" FUCKING WHAT?? There are other stupid things that happened but I've written enough for people to understand.

An interesting fact this was the second time I ever felt full bodied rage at something, I'll probably tell the other story at some point

Anyway I noped right the fuck out after that week. But otherwise yeah scouting was great! Just don't get paid to work for them.

Getting really annoyed at friends telling me I should have no problem finding a partner based on my looks and personality.

If it were really that easy to find someone do you think I'd be alone all the time?

Gotta love these funks, just wish they were as easy to clear up as they are to suddenly descend upon me.

 

Oh wow, I've heard these things as well. Like it's that easy. "Alright, see you in a bit, just going out to get myself a partner! I'll be back in an hour." Nah. That's how they sound like.
The worst thing I've heard is "I can't believe you're single! You're so kind and so good looking. I just don't get it." Yet they don't want to date me. It's not a compliment, it's frustrating to hear.

 

Exactly. The best part is when they're married/engaged or have a wonderful relationship with someone already. Like I'm supposed to use them as proof for how easy it is.

In other news, I'm having to stay with my parents because our furnace won't work. I personally like 45 F, but my small dog and even smaller parrot would suffer. Hopefully it's fixed on Tuesday.

Dating for me right now is a no-no. I'm working on fixing my relationship with my ex Fiance/roomie/boss/bff (lol).

Hah, yeah, I've been told I'm the "total package" by various people. Sure, if the total package includes trust issues, no desire for commitment, and apparently having really bad judgement. It's super great how the people who I know are interested in me usually aren't going anywhere in life, and that the one person who did turn his life around immediately abandoned me. It's also great how the people I attract are in the end either assholes or cripplingly insecure.

It's ok, though. I'm currently satisfied being an unattached temptress. Pretty rare for me to miss being in a serious relationship.
