What Is On Your Mind?

With how popular social networking is these days, you can spread awareness pretty damn quick. Hashtags like #BlackLivesMatter and #HandsUpDontShoot are prime examples. Protests are not means to disrupt or disturb normal everyday life, especially in the ways these recent ones have. These aren't like worker's strikes, or sits in where they refuse to work until their demands are met. These protesters disrupt those who are just trying to go about their days. Blocking traffic, they're preventing doctors and nurses from getting to hospitals to care for their patients, and maybe even saving their life. They are blocking mothers and fathers getting to and from work to support their families.

And yes, WBC didn't always protest behind barricades, but at least they had to decency not to pull shit like the people now. They (WBC) went about it the right way. Don't think for a second that I'm sticking up for them, they're on the list as some of the worst people in the world.

 

"yes! disrupting daily life, destroying the local community, trashing and torching local businesses and getting into fights with other people and the police will totally show how peaceful and right we are!" bad logic, very very bad logic. long term it's going to do more damage to poorer communities with higher crime rates than good. unfortunately social media has created the perfect environment for spreading rumors and hatred faster than any other time in history so what starts out an active police investigation suddenly becomes a supposed world war 3 against anyone not in power. personally I'm curious to see what the long term effects of "social justice" will be on free speech, due process of law, and extremism in general. I have plenty of people I don't like but I'll at least try to get along with them so it's not a constant shit storm of hatred and threats back and forth.

 

@scalie : No brainer right? I think the main problem is people acting off of emotions, and just being in the heat of the moment without thinking about the big picture. All of this stems from unfortunate events, no matter what side you're on. Everyone just needs to mourn, heal, and get on with their lives.


To anyone who hasn't blocked me, just please listen. I'm an asshole. I believe in tough love. I have strong, harsh opinions. Hate me, loath me. Just know that I hold nothing personal. I may disagree (sometimes strongly) with your views and opinions, but I respect them and you. I wouldn't argue with you if I didn't. If you want to cast me out, throw me to the wolves, burn me at the stake, that's fine.

That's all I have to say. I need to get some sleep as I'll be busy most of the day. I'll probably pop in once and a while just to see what's going on.

Freaking out in large crowds? That doesn't sound like adhd.. That sounds like a level of autism. The scope is damn huge though it's easy to get diagnosed either way.
*speaking from my own experience had adhd when I was younger but grew out of it now just have asperges syndrome (high functioning autism) to deal with for life YAY*

By law it is illegal for proestors to block roads and disrupt businesses in certain states. That's when freedom of speech comes to a halt.

The whole thing started because the process of law was completely perverted. You can't blatantly break the law when you're supposed to be upholding it and expect everyone else to sit down and take it. The past few years have shown that the law is something the US is quite happy to pick and choose in its enforcement, you can't tell certain groups that they can blatantly break them and then call everyone else out when they follow suit. It seems that "by law" now means shit if you have the right social standing.

Thinking of selling my current PC to a friend and building a newer, smaller rig with comparable power. Only thing is... I don't want Windows 8, and Windows 10 is a ways away yet. I could always put Windows 7 on it again and upgrade to 10 whenever it comes out.
