Yeah japan has some weird stuff... I know a guy who once saw a video of some of the really weird stuff, which could almost be classified as rape imo he told me, and if any lawmaker in the UK saw it, they would probably just explode. middleschool and highschool I got shit from people because I didn't use the word faggot at least 5 times in every sentence and I actually had my own personality and because I was bisexual. now that I'm in college I get shit from people because I'm male, white, not dirt poor, and have a boyfriend. I consider it a paradigm shift in ignorance, from an overly backwards perspective to an overly progressive perspective. seriously, the other day I was in class and the teacher called on me to ask my opinion on medical anthropology practices and the validity of certain beliefs on health and disease in the face of modern scientific results and I gave the most unbiased answer possible and had someone call me a "cultural dismissing shitlord piece of scum" I'm just glad the professor was smart enough to ask them to be more respectful of others and try to use less hateful speech

 

I've honestly only ever come across attitudes like that from teenagers on Tumblr.

 

unfortunately it's an ideology that's started to infect college campuses too.
