I was thinking the same thing (and also advised against the loan.) Why are you the one that has to get the loan, and not your father? I suppose it's possible he can't get approved, from what I know of his history.

You should not be saddled with a loan though ><, especially when you don't have an income!

 

I know, right? If I had a possibility, I'd not take it, but the point is I have no job. Before you start to scold me for making a bad decision - father is the only "moneygiver" currently, with a little percentage coming from mum's "sickness pension". Without taking it, the penalties on another loan would go through the roof, which would make consequences immediate and... well, quite severe. But when I took it, I enabled my family to just float until father gets his paycheck, which will go towards paying the next interest. With enough saving, we might just struggle towards it... It wasn't easy because I'm fully aware of the consequences on me. If I had a job, and had some money on my account, I'd definitely help with it rather than take a loan... But at the moment I had no other choice really.

And if I were fully self-sustainable now, I'd just tell my father to fuck off and take the consequences of his stupid action. But I'm not, so any consequences on him would have hit me and my mum too.

 

Today actually turned out pretty nice, which is nice because I am not one to miss the pirate invasion.

Problem. I have four hours to burn and nothing to occupy that time. Does anyone else find this annoying? Having to wait but not knowing how to spend that time, or not having anything to do to keep yourself busy?

 

Honey are you sure there are no jobs in bars or restaurants you can apply in. Cleaning maybe? Delivery? Fast food retail?
I know it must be hard because I'm also looking for a better paying job right now because I have worked at the same place for 10 years now and going no where and can't afford to fend for myself.
I hope something comes up for you I really do. But the loan is a very very risky move.

I don't see it either.. it would seem weird for Scott to debunk the February 5th release date on the basis that there's still a lot of work to be done, just to release it even earlier than that. (I'm all for a nearby release, though).

 

business management, which could be useful, but it's boring as hell and in no way interests me, although everything else they offer doesn't interest me much either. I looked at just doing the easy way and switching to an arts major with an emphasis in sculpture but then you have to take almost every art class offered, 6 art histories and 4 years of writing. I think my problem is that I prefer to learn things I need through practice, and only what I need instead of sitting in a room for hours on end just hearing the theory of how it should or shouldn't work

So for the past week I've been trying to decide if the reason I feel like shit is because I'm depressed or because I'm just really fucking bored and I think I've finally found out why. I turned my alarm off a week ago...

 

I've got my eye on a bottle of carolina reaper siracha sauce... but I don't want to spend the like $8.50+ shipping to get it. funny considering I have a bunch of over $100 sex toys sitting in a box XD

on another note, I took a shower and now I smell like rust. I had a bunch of iron dust in my hair and on my body from working on flattening out a weird cast iron thing and I wasn't able to get it all off even with soap and a rough cloth. rusty scalie it is I guess

 

Heh. When I took university the course being offered was "Business Computer Engineering," this weird hybrid degree where I learned a crapton of computer engineering (but not real computer sicence) alongside another crapton of accounting. Which sucked. A lot. My first job out of school was writing bond management software for Prudential Bache securities, and I hated everything about it. Hated the move to Fort Lauderdale, hated being told I had to wear a suit and tie to write software, hated dealing with the really shitty by-hand confirmation passes. I damn near invented unit testing just to make sure I could hand off the punch tape (no shit) to the quality assurance people without getting a mark on my record.

I left that job, moved to Seattle, and in 1993 went to work for tech support for one of the very first ISPs. I was there for two months when someone from upstairs came down and asked, "Does anyone here know Perl?" I said I did. They sent me upstairs, gave me an assignment, which I did with flying colors, and they tripled my salary and said, "You're a webmaster now" and, hey, it's kinda worked out okay.

True story: I had taught myself Perl just two weeks prior. because in 1993 the (very small, very rare, very obscure) porn archives had switched over from GIF to JPG and I had to write a new ripper. Porn and luck made me a wealthy man.

 

First day back from leave... Naturally every task was crap and I ended up doing 3 his overtime. Leave already feels like a distant memory...
