Just on a random music kick tonight.

Clay Aiken has one of the best voices of his generation. Such incredible range and control. Such power, he leaps up and down the register like it's nothing. Not to mention he's gay and tall and cute. You can see him perform this live all over Youtube. I swear sometimes I think he's an android sent here to melt hearts and completely overshadow human singers.

Amy Winehouse had a voice unlike any other and every piece of her music you listen to only further cements the weight of losing her. This lovely Mark Ronson version of the song (same guy who just did Uptown Funk with Bruno Mars) is a great revival of the Zutons classic. It's her voice that makes it though. This live recording should just give you some idea of what's missing from the world today.

Here's Bruno Mars doing a more Mark Ronson version of the song at the Amy Winehouse tribute. See the entire western music world come out to remember a giant talent. Ignore Katy Perry with the cube on her head. She was still married to Russell Brand at the time.
I swear he's never had a bad performance. His vocals are unparalleled today and his dancing is so energetic and really can you find a single fault in him? I for one can't and I'm as cynical and hateful of pop music as anybody ever was. He's Buddy Holly reincarnate, I swear. He's old fashioned, he's jazzy, he's funky, he sings R&B and Rock, he's filipino... Don't believe me just watch.

Holy crap, I've been on a Tragically Hip kick lately! Fully Completely is probably the best album I've ever heard by a Canadian band... Yet they remain largely unheard of in anywhere but Canada... Just like many other great Canadian bands like Big Sugar, The Headstones, ect... It's criminal!

Difficult to find the album in it entirety on YouTube, so here's a playlist...

Such an eerie song… Really sets the tone for probably the best album of the 2000s...

May have shared this before… But the first time I heard it I cried…. Like a lot...

A lot of people don't quite realize how much Phish actually means to there phans, and after playing a set that completely broke norms and shattered all expectations amidst a lot of cynicism from the phandom, they even decided to ask us Is This What You Wanted? (a Leonard Cohen cover) in the encore. It truly feels like a love song to all their phans, and how we've stuck together for just soooo damn long.

Things like this (and that entire show) just continue to remind me about how special these guys really are… and keep me excited for future shows!
