The Video Game Thread

I find it mildly irritating, mostly because when I notice it, all I can think about the picture is "oh god, people are going to complain about trigger discipline."

On another note, I really wish that when a game dies, the game developers would release their game assets for the public to make use of. It's such a waste to keep them and probably have them purged when other people could be using them for a variety of reasons. It would be great to have people try to revive dead games as open source or community driven projects, but it seems like developers have the "they're ours and we couldn't continue to make money off them, so nobody else can have them" mentality.

Bethesda did one better and released them all for Fallout 3 with the G.E.C.K. and the creation kit for Skyrim. HEl lthey knew there games were unplayably buggy, releasing that stuff is only fair after delivering an unfinished product. I think the reason Skyrim got so little DLC is that they released so much content that was working by the last day of development as free material or components of the DLC and spent the rest of their time fixing bugs. Meanwhile, the modding community fixed all those bugs already for the PC players and really picked up the slack in terms of new content.

Clearly you should switch over to PC and then you can turn Skyrim into a magical land of Dicks and monocle toting mud crabs!

 

I wonder if anyone has made a better texture mod for khajiit yet. There are some really nice skin texture and facial improvement mods, but very few for the beast races. I want my fur to look a bit more fur-like, not paint. That's all!
To be fair, that's probably difficult to do.

Had my first Smash 4 tourney yesterday! I have mixed feelings...

First, I went 4-1 in pools, losing a close 1-2 set to a rather good Ness. However, when bracket started, I faced my friend (who eventually won the tournament) in winners, and my controller broke mid match in my first losers game. I ended up tied for dead last, but was happy with my real performance.

Got to mention that this was with my new main who I've been playing for 6 Days....

Realistic fur rendering is time consuming and graphically demanding. That's why they don't do it. But at least they could texture them correctly to get the illusion of fur. Like the popori in Tera. My only peeve about the khajit race.

 

fuck yes. finally beat Aava on the third dark souls 2 DLC. that was pissing me off for so long. I kept getting him down to within 2 hits of dying and then he would do that BS double swipe move and kill me. now to just go fight that maldron asshole and then try to not get destroyed too many times by the burnt ivory king

 

okay, killed Maldron the assassin on the third try, I made sure to kill the porcupine things first every time because they're worse than the bone wheal skeletons. had to employ the old "poison arrow pincushion" technique and then stay on his ass like paparazzi on the royal family. most people fuck up and open the gate before killing him so they then have to fight him and the covetous demon when he runs off

 

played some dark souls 2, got invaded and wrecked by someone (dual wielding heide great lances with every buff possible and full havel's armor, hardly seems fair) talked to them for a while, got them to help me fight the burnt ivory king. and then the weirdest glitch ever happened, the ivory king got stuck on a tiny bump on the ground and wouldn't move or attack so it was the easiest fight ever

 

fuck i wish Bloodborne wasn't PS4 exclusive

 

I'll be getting a PS4 very soon. Gamestop has one hell of a trade in deal and it's too good to pass up.

But I have no interest in Bloodborne.

 

My brother is going crazy hoping it'll be on the PC.

 

Sadly I think Bloodbourne will be just a ps4 exclusive until sonys console sales increase.
Or they might just be evil and with the increased sales still keep it their exclusive.

 

GUUUUUH I have so many video games WHY MUST I WANT TO PLAY THE ONES MY COMPUTER CAN'T RUN?

Those are literally the only ones I want to play HELP ME

 

The only reason bloodbourne is only on PS4 is because Sony already through a bunch of money at them to keep it that way.

So unless there's a PS4 emulator, no PC. And there will be one because it should be really easy to emulate, given that it is just a pc, with a shitty APU, and countless restrictions. Same for the Xbone.

 

I am really hoping beyond hope that my current 4 year old PC will be able to play GTAV and MGSV decently enough without having to upgrade anything.

 

Since the Elder Scrolls thread died, I'll just post here.

My Skyrim began crashing every time it would go to a load screen making the game, on any character, impossible to play. After a few weeks if screwing with it trying to get it to work, I gave up. A few days ago I completely uninstalled and deleted everything Skyrim from my computer and began downloading it again. My internet access is crap so it's taking forever. Sigh. I'll have to start all over again, mods and all.
