I'm sure that it will continue in a downward spiral for quite a while until there's a large enough group of people to say it's fucking stupid. people seem to think complete strangers really give a shit about them cutting themselves and posting the pics or signing a petition to ban a word or an idea or venting every last one of their deepest darkest thoughts on their blog. they don't realize that everyone else paying any attention to them is exactly like them, they do it to get their own share of the attention and whenever someone does happen to have common sense and call them out on their bullshit they get pissy and claim it's someone trying to silence them.

I was bullied for a long time as a kid so I understand why people don't like shaming and bullying, but I also definitely recognize that having someone call you out on stupid self destructive bullshit is one of the only things that work. I got sucked into the pity party depression/harming thing in highschool and when some people with similar issues found out they gave me 'support' that really just made it where you either kept doing it to get their support or you got better and they'd hate you for it since they couldn't. when my older brother found out I was cutting one night while drinking with him and a few friends, he slapped the shit out of me, and that actually really helped me because up to that point it was all false optimism and best case scenarios and everyone else trying to look good for how conscientious and helpful they were for everyone else, same as the current end bullying/shaming/whatever social issue 90% of 12 to 15 year olds care about. There comes a point where everyone has to either learn to just fight through it and kick a bad habit or stay a child for the rest of their life. all in all it's not gonna get better until they actually want to put in the effort to get better. keep them in the hug-fortress of ridiculously low standards and let them stay that way forever or throw them out to be with everyone else dealing with the same shit and making the best of it. there's no other way they're going to get past it.

tl;dr I'm a cynical bastard who used to be one of those annoying little assholes and it took my brother and life slapping the shit out of me to figure out how to not be that anymore

I wasn't looking to mock those who genuinely have issues. I just have a very black sense of humour. It comes naturally to most people in my line of work as a defence mechanism to the stuff you see. By making (admittedly crude/politically incorrect) jokes about these kinds of things (self harm/suicide) it helps lighten the mood and get everyone talking about them which can be a huge help, especially for those who may not have been exposed to the end results before.

 

I can understand that. it's also how I got a friend of mine to not commit suicide after his girlfriend did. humor, and not humor meant to hurt someone, but humor to help them realize how stupid and pointless something can be is a powerful tool. too bad trigger warnings have made that nearly impossible anymore

 

Yeah I guess I can see your point when you word it that way.
Actually come to think of it I've been talked out of doing really stupid stuff as well when someone wouldmake a joke aabout it and make me realize how ridiculous I was actually being.

Sometimes you need to say something completely shocking to get through to someone. Probably the blackest bit of humour I've experienced was at a train suicide that involved decapitation. One of the other guys who admittedly is a bit odd goes and quotes an old ad from TV that was pretty famous back in the day with this funny kid.


It shouldn't have been funny, but the mood was so serious and it was so well timed that everyone just cracked up laughing and it lifted everyone up

Man today's already been rough...damn it

 

Whoo hoo! Two days off in a row! I even slept during night (of course I had to stay up for 24-something hours to do it). Though in hindsight, it might not be such a good idea, as I will have to get back on track for graveyard shift again by Saturday evening. But sleeping with Mo again was real nice for both of us, he has even missed my snoring, if you can believe.

 

I am really not looking forward to having a full time job. I just don't have the mental fortitude for the monotony and such little gain.

 

But imagine all the lovely things you will be able to buy with that gain

 

A job allows you to sell your labour for monies!

You can sell your monies for things you value!

 

It sucks, but having money is great. It funds hobbies, housing, dates, food, necessities, luxuries... pretty much everything.
If you don't have to work to live, that's great too, but that often comes with only the bare necessities.

 

I try to tell myself that, but it's always such a lot of effort for (relatively) next to nothing. I'm not one for spending 5/7ths of my life in poor exchange for stuff. I'm currently looking to move into my own place after my university accommodation expires and I need a new car. Affording those alone will be a challenge, let alone any luxuries, hobbies and/or HRT.

I'm very aware of how quickly my life seems to be going by right now, and it's depressing me realizing just how much of my life I need to sacrifice just to buy little temporary satisfaction.

I know it's not a unique situation, I'm a spoiled brat and most responses should be "tough shit", but it makes me so tired just thinking about it.

 

That situation terrifies tons of early-mid 20-somethings. The prospect of "making it," on your own (preferably not alone eventually in most cases.) It's stressful, and there's not really a definable path to "victory."

Also, don't think of it as "5/7ths" of your life. You do other things in addition to work. Life isn't a sprint to retirement so you can enjoy not working (though I'd retire as soon as you can, unless you love your line of work!) There's tons of time not spent working, or sleeping, that are effectively yours to do with as you wish.

Unless you're in college while working, or have kids

 

My Dude went up to his old workplace to harass an exfriend of mine, because I had a thing with said exfriend while Dude and I were not together. He's done this before and I've told him not to, and why he did it again today I don't know.
Coincidentally, I had a dream where I'd gone to see the Dude and exfriend appeared out of nowhere, and the two of them got in a petty fight. I told them both to fuck out of my life.

I get this strange feeling that I'm going to say something like that to someone today. Dunno why.

So, does anyone know somewhere I can get/someone who can make a tailcoat like this one? It doesn't have to have the pattern on the sleeves or end of the coat (I can put that on), I just want it in that general shape and in yellow.
