What Is On Your Mind?

How do I IRL friends? I feel like I'm too old to connect with relatable and interesting people. I'm too damn shy and reclusive.

 

New haircut obtained, it feels so nice to have short hair again

 

As someone who just a couple of days ago got my hair cut short... Heck yes!

 

Not to be cliche...but be who you are and don't be afraid to approach people, age has nothing to do with who can can connect with. Heck, most of my friends are twice my age.

I also prefer to hide from everyone else but working retail with people has helped me open up. Sometimes just smiling at someone you are interested in can get your foot in the door, and if they smile back just approach them and ask how they're doing and such, you know, just shoot the shit. It can be awkward at first but keep at it and don't be worried about "screwing up". Mistakes encourage learning and you can't get along with everyone but it doesn't mean you can't try.

 

I find it impossible to tell when someone's flirting to me. It's one of those things that just don't register in my brain. (One other thing that never registers is "hints" from my manager about optional activities that might be good for my career. Thank God he's figured that out; now he just tells me, "I see you're doing X. If you added Y to X, and gave a presentation about it, it would be good for everyone.")

I'm really glad my new love just came up to me, said, "I've fantasized about your for years. Let's get together." No flirting, no bullshit. It's been amazing.

 

Depends on the scenarios you enjoy. Gaming clubs are good along with hobby shops, it's easy to connect that way if you're nerdy. Sports if you're sporty, sign up for a local team of something you like. Take a class in something that's being offered locally, you can find people there, the more obscure the better. ie. If you take Kendo you'll mostly run into nerds who love Japanese culture. Young people are really into weird sports like fencing and stuff too. It's easy to start something like that. You can always meet people at pub if you enjoy the culture.

The easiest way for people to connect though, is school or work.

@AkaiKitsune I am sure you are younger than me so I am sure you can make friends. But you are correct, depending on your interest you might find it hard. I find it hard to find proper otaku's rather than fans of the current show. Or very scary people.

On another note the new BD toy is ugly!

 

The only way I can see BD making any sort of come-back from this mess-up is if they bring back Moko :/
