And today she acts like nothing is fucking wrong, and offered to get me something from Lush.
I HATE MIND GAMES. I don't want to cause problems when their aren't any but....???? Um, we can't just pretend that that huge fight didn't happen yesterday.

 

Seriously think she needs kicking out on her ass @Vitani, it will set her straight it is not your responsibility to deal with her. I know its hard but if she treats her own family like trash she will not adapt to the real world so taking care of her is not doing any of you favours.

Force the situation on her and she'll soon grow up.

 

On the subject of discipline, I absolutely never understood the whole concept of physical discipline... My parents may have sent me to my room or token certain privileges away from me from time to time, but generally I just learned to respect them from them being positive role models.
I think my dad spanked me once when I was three... But he really wasn't himself at that point in my life...

I guess it's also pretty worth noting that I was actually a rather good kid... I never really got in trouble...

I dont see how the "respect" earned from beating your kids helps them form healthy, respectful relationships or habits later in life.

 

My dad spanked me all the time and as a kid I never felt like it was appropriate. My sister and I would fight and that was his way of intervening. It didn't make me a good person, my mom did that and she never laid a hand on me that I can recall. I don't think I'll spank my kids. I don't think it does much good other than temporarily frighten and hurt them. My sister and I didn't become different people because of it.
