Basically, I had been in touch with someone for several weeks, and they seemed interested, so I floated the idea of meeting sometime later. Never, ever *ever* have I done that over a forum.

I'm having mixed luck with headphones lately. I'm looking for earbuds with a cloth cord, and a pause button on the cord, but I'm having trouble finding anything like that, since the button isn't generally advertised on the box, and lots have in-line mics that may or may not press for pausing, but you don't know until you buy.

TLDR; anyone have recommendations for earbuds/headphones?

 

There's meeting people from the forum which is easy and then there is meeting potential partners or fuck buddies.
Totally different mixture of emotions.

Guess I just don't understand this human drive to be with someone.

Not saying you shouldn't of course, I just don't understand the need for it.

I know that struggle. I don't even live with my parents right now and I can't do shit without them knowing.

Well I could do, but I feel immensely guilty if I don't let them know what I'm doing. Plus they'd get angry at me if they found out I'd gone and done something like that without telling them.

 

I already get shit for wanting my privacy. I learned a very long time ago that if I shared anything with them, it generally ended in disapproval or being made fun of for it.

 

Yep, pretty much everything I want to do involving my appearance or other people, my parents disapprove of.

When I was making plans to meet my (now ex) girlfriend I'd met on the internet, my parents wouldn't even consider letting us meet until I'd known her for almost 3 years and had a ton of evidence that she wasn't just some predator or something. Then they said I was allowed to meet her, but would have to have my father or older sister with me at the time. I was almost 20 and she only lived about an hour away. The relationship petered out basically because it wasn't going anywhere. It's things like this that are the reason I find it difficult to get involved with people.

 

^ eww.. I understand they're trying to protect you, but that's excessive.
Think my rebel side would have kicked in if they were that unjustifiably boorish.

 

My parents would never let me meet people online but if I show them I have researched they are legit etc and provide them with my findings they'll let me go see said internet person. Not willingly but they can't stop me.

 

I don't really have any friends in real life around me anymore, so I tend to talk to people online instead.

These have been deemed my "imaginary friends"

 

My mother gets super pissed if I go against her decisions. She has absolutely no qualms about cutting people from her life, even her kids. She's done it to my eldest sister and my older sister, although she's back on speaking terms with the latter after she fell into severe depression and became suicidal. She's almost done it with me too several times, and is the main reason I can't show any kind of being miserable or depressed around her without the threat of breaking our relationship and having contact cut.

On another subject, I have 10 days to complete my white paper with 3 pages left, and at least 13000 words of my dissertation. Fun times.

 

The only way out of that is getting to the point that you can be the one to cut the ties..

 

I honestly would not care to keep contact with a mother like that. Genes be damned.
