Well I know I'll never be "normal" per say, but I feel you with everything else. I made the mistake of wasting my teenage years away on games, now I'm swimming in mediocrity. Although as long as I get enough money to do shit I want, I'm not really bothered, but at this point in time it seems unlikely.

I try to talk to my parents about it, and they just say stuff like "Oh you're still young, you have plenty of time".

Being normal... I wonder if that's worse than feeling below average on all fronts?

assuming you're in the US they do have a legal obligation to not use their property in a way that diminishes the ownership and enjoyment of another person's property, IE: any activity that pisses off the neighbors that a reasonable person would think to not do, like make a fuckton of noise all night every night

In regards to the earlier "average/normal" conversation, there's honestly nothing wrong with being average. I went through a bit of a phase where I kind of figured out I would be a pretty average guy in life, and in the end I realised that being average doesn't mean being boring or uninteresting. Sure, you probably won't be famous, but being famous is overrated. You basically trade away all your privacy for money. No thank you good sir and/or madam, I rather enjoy my privacy.

Also remember that being average doesn't mean being unsuccessful. The average person makes enough to live relatively comfortably, whether by themselves or with others, meaning you have enough money to pay for taxes, rent/mortgage, food, energy, and still have some left over for leisurely spending. Obviously not right away, but the average person gets there. The average person also ends up starting a family of their own eventually, should they wish to. I dunno about you, but being able to do both of those things, even if you're average, sounds pretty successful to me.

Why am I obsessed with my stupid hair lately? GROW OUT FASTER DAMN IT! I have big ideas for you, you silly fluffy stuff that resides on my head...

The only concerning thing though is I've been getting the "why do you want to grow it out?" questioning...though I had a few people ask if I was in a 70's style glam rock band...LOL.

People look absolutely shocked when I say I want to cut my hair shorter. I suppose is has been a long ass time since they've seen me without long hair.

I have the fairly long-term goal of growing / maintaining a massive and well cared for, mane. No idea how well it will turn out, or how long my genes will take me, but we'll see!

.. provided I don't get a job requiring short hair ._. Never again! I'd have an extra 4 years of growth otherwise.

Also, @Serathaiya: Head hair never grows fast if you want it to :p

Edit: On my mind: I just filed my taxes... late. I was very distracted on the due date, and forgot! There will be a minor penalty, but the return is still a solid 3-5 dicks.

    Elaborate (ask the housemate.)
I've heard of workaholics and loving your work, but "work nerd?"

Every time I get my hair cut or dyed a different colour I have to go through the whole situation of customers generally asking me I haven't seen you before are you new?
Kinda depressing when I think about it that I don't make that much of an impression. *sigh*

    agreed. I take direct dickposit.

I don't tend to eyeball random acquaintances or strangers particularly closely, so if someone moderately adjusts their appearance (haircut/dye) I would understand the confusion. Toss in work uniforms and, from a distance, there's not many defining characteristics to go on when it comes to recognizing someone.

I'd expect regulars to recognize your voice, however.
