What Is On Your Mind?

Getting my thyroid checked tomorrow. I've been feeling so sluggish and desperate for any sort of energy. I sleep around 9-11 hours a night and have the worst time even falling asleep at night. I usually wake up around noon or 1. I went to my feminine health lady today to see if it could be my birth control causing it and she told me it sounds more like a thyroid issue. Among the trouble sleeping and being tired ALL of the time, I'm constantly itchy and starting to feel more and more depressed about the little things in life. I'm constantly sensitive to the cold and I sit with a heater in my room to keep it about 77-79 degrees.

I thought making a FaceBook post asking some people what they think of thyroid stuff or if it's even worthwhile to ask, and my mother basically made a fat joke and told me that getting my thyroid checked is a waste of time and won't fix my weight. x_x Life is literally the most frustrating thing right now. SORRY TO VENT but damn. I hate how ignorant people, such as my mom, think that people who have concerns about thyroid are crazy and just lazy fat people. I hope that people who have such problems don't get ridiculed that badly. I didn't even just decide to go get that checked out; I told my doctor how I felt and she instantly told me to get it checked out. I never even thought about it until she mentioned it.

I apparently offended some "otherkin" people, which honestly I didn't mean to. Then they pissed me off by calling me a dick, jackass, pathetic, etc. They got so mad for nothing! Anyway, I'll leave it at that publicly.

 

it's my night off and I don't plan on doing a single goddamn thing productive.

Do we have a Product X I can hook my monitors up, so I can test if they work? Well, no. Do we have an expert in Product X who can tell me if I'm monitoring the right things? No. Do we have simulators for Product X? Sorta... they're from 2011, so they're two revisions out of date, and they changed a lot of stuff, and it's all documented here and...

Christ, it's like being told to build an F1-E racing car only to be told the track is meant for swamp buggies.

I realized today that deciding between recreational chemicals (such as alcohol) and Bad Dragon toys is exactly like the debate between oil and solar: one is an ongoing commodity expense with short-term utility, the other is a capital investment with long-term returns.

 

I've seen that word thrown around here and there, but I never felt like looking it up. What exactly is an otherkin?

I personally think it's bullshit but that's not what I said on the other forums.

 

But I have the same problem with solar as I do Bad Dragon toys. They are only great in the end game. Cause my eyes say, "All of that" and my hole says, "Not even the tip"

I'm a pretty tolerant guy, but The only otherkin I've ever interacted with are the kind of people that just have to be different in every regard, or want to have something to get mad at people about... Some genuine or reasonable otherkin may exist... But in my experience it's just an elevated form of attention seeking.

I believe there may in fact be TRUE otherkin but yeah the tumblr community ruined me for the moment. I'll keep an open mind.

@Grimmyr It never ceases to amaze me how intolerant and ignorant people can be. Blowing your own daughter/son's health issue off as their own personal problem and as no big deal to you? This is one of many examples of why we are screwing ourselves over, generation by generation....

And even IF it's weight related, weight issues CAN be influenced very easily by thyroid problems, due to it's importance in regulation of many hormones and functions of the Endocrine System. Definitely follow your doctor's advice, they know what they're talking about. Your mother obviously got her medical certificate from a cereal box.

@DocOctavia When the staff of a site protects those who are purposely being hateful and hurtful, while punishing those who simply had a misunderstanding or are trying to be constructive. THAT'S a huge red flag that you shouldn't even bother with that place anymore.

That said, while I don't believe myself to be Otherkin, from my personal views in life I DO believe it is a possible phenomenon, at least in the same way that a male feels disgusted by their body and that they're supposed to have a female body or vice versa (Gender Dysphoria), if not in the literal sense of being an Otherkin. However, also in line with my personal views in life, it's neither something I, or anyone else, can prove or disprove, or should, so as long as it's not hurting anyone, I just let it be. But like I said, that's just my personal belief.

 

there's a real definition from a few years ago but since it's become all the rage on tumblr it means you basically identify as anything else than human, and I mean ANYTHING! cat? check! dragon? check! plant? check! virus? um, check! coffemaker (like the applience)? er... check?... space itself? check, unfortunately...
