So, in otherwords, he believes in the existence of other planets and space past Earth's atmosphere, but that there is something physcially surrounding us that holograms can be reflected off of clearly enough for telescopes to view but at the same time won't block our view of the planets. We've got a genius here.

Not just any something, specifically glass.

Unrelated, but I decided to try something new for dinner today. Pan-seared some cheese perogies with chopped garlic and margarine, used the remaining garlicky substance to fry a couple pieces of toast to make garlic bread. Turned out pretty awesome.

Dammit, now I want to make some of that. Guess pasta with tomatoes, whole basil, and whole garlic will have to do until I pick up some Perogies. And homemade strawberry/mango smoothies for dessert. >_>

I think works takes advantage of me and my kind nature. They ring me all the time to cover shifts, I've tried to start saying no and be more assertive, but they keep making me feel like I'm the guilty one for not covering.
:( I just wish people would do their shifts. I do mine every week of the year no complaints.

This happens all the time dear, kids want all the money from their shifts but don't want to work all the hours for it.
I've had this happen plenty of times. Bosses would call me while I'm in the middle of school or out of town and say "Hey can you cover this shift". I simply say "I'm in class till this time" or "I'm out of town, sorry" and they just have to deal with it.
It helps to have been at this job for as long as I have (4+ years) I've basically gotten to the point where saying no is a lot easier, and nobody can make me feel guilty about it.

Miss too many shifts, and they typically should get fired. A few cases here and there depending on the circumstances, no one can help it if you had to go to the ER (though some employers will "lay you off" instead in those cases). That said, I despise when people try to guilt trip others to get them to do their own work, and then reap the benefits. Had enough of that from my own brother, so I know when they're doing it and I'm sure as hell not going to take it from them.

    EDIT:
As I said with how they typically should get fired for missing too many shifts, I believe that if you're called in to "cover" for someone, you should be getting the pay for those extra hours you're putting in, and they should have those missed hours deducted from their pay.

Well I have been in this job nearly 10+ years and I have never caused and issue. I guess that's why they always pick on me I guess.

My goodness how have you not simply snapped at someone? I've worked my job for less than half the time and a couple of my employees cause me to become so enraged that I feel like I'm having a heart attack!

Ugh.... I ran into this a while ago... Where I work, there is often a ton of overtime to be worked, but it's rather crappy work, so very few people want to do it. I was on call one week every month, which was already enough... But people would come up with elaborate excuses as to why they couldn't do their on call shift, and would leave me with the phone and just hope I held onto it... Then my bosses started calling me on weekends that I wasn't on call... Then I started just plain working 80 hour weeks... Burnt out really bad, and stopped doing on call. It took a lot to build up the courage to just plain say "No more on call work for me," but it has made me a lot more happy with my job.

Yes but there is being assertive and then their is being mean and cruel and I don't want to do that.
As for snapping that happened 4 years ago.
The shifts aren't overtime either though it's just to cover incompetent people that don't want to work.

Next time one of them acts like they rule over you, tell them "SnowLycan to King So-And-So, SnowLycan to King So-And-So, come in you royal boob!". Bonus burn points if you can mimic Skeletor's voice.

Lol no my boss treats the workers like shit and the slackers like they are amazing. About 5 people in total have either already left or are planning on leaving in the next months.

Awww, that sucks... At least for me my bosses acknowledged the extra effort I was putting in. I don't know quite what to say... Sometimes extra hours are nice, but getting called in sucks...

Welp, today is the day I turn 49. One more year and my warranty expires, my ass falls off like an old muffler, my gut starts to sag like old lettuce, and I go from having four supple limbs and one stiffie to four stiff limbs and one wilty...

You know what I really hate about birthdays? The effort you have to go through, as the birthday person, to reassure everyone else that you appreciate their efforts to make today "different" and "special" for you. You get to the place in your life where your treasure reliability and routine, and then have to put on a smile and just take it while your loved ones do everything they can to make today "not routine."

Sorry. Grumpy ol' troll is grumpy.
