Well, this person is talking to people underage. I think that mixing minors and those that are legal in a dating situation is at least going to cause concern 99% of the time, and it's generally not healthy, since even a small difference at this age can lead to a huge difference in maturity levels. When you're already in your late twenties or thirties, the age gap doesn't matter so much because both parties are pretty well-developed individuals.

And honestly, I feel this is a thing most reasonable people do still care about. Plus, just being on tumblr doesn't make someone instantly wrong...

 

I can personally attest that I consider age a thing especially if the person I s younger than me. For example, my 17 year old coworker wanted to date me but I will be 21 soon. He even mentioned "crashing" at my place when he's 18 and it was too bad I didn't have me own place. Like, just that statement alone I already knew he didn't really like me hem liked what I could have had/been doing for him. Like maturity n all that. Plus, he hasn't had the same experiences as I have had yet so feel like it wouldn't have worked out anyway.

 

Not sure if I have any of that in my apartment right now.

 

Well my day consisted of opening up a store. Dealing with two deliveries, cooking bread for customers, getting stuff ready for tomorrow's bake.

As well as doing a cleaning protest by scrubbing a giant circle in the floor to prove a point of this is how a clean floor looks now do the rest. Plus mother henning a new sales assistant cause no one has taught her anything and having to help a guy covering all the managerial stuff in our store.

I have not stopped since 6am this morning. At least I am finished and get to sit down.

 

Gosh you're a hard worker. That mopping point is really clever, I wish I'd thought of that!

 

Sadly under appreciated by the higher up staff. But at least my customers notice when I am not there.

True, but I've never seen anything like that go to court without some kind of malevolent background or charges being personally pushed.

It's just that this kind of attitude isn't very prevalent here in the UK, partly I think because our AOC is 16, not 18. Even then, it's quite normal for 15-16 y/os to be hooking up with 19+y/os here. Nobody really cares as long as there's no manipulation involved. I had a friend who got with someone over twice her age when she was 17, but apart from being somewhat cautious, nobody really bothered about it. As far as I'm aware, they're still together 6 years later and it's worked miracles for her maturity and independence.

That's what I thought, until I looked at the OP's Tumblr page.I think it would be hard to get more stereotypically "rabid Tumblr user".

I only bought it up because I actually see this attitude a lot from Americans, and not just on Tumblr. In the same night I found it, I also saw a movie in which the father is super pissed and threatening legal action because his almost 18y/o is dating a just turned 20y/o. That just seems fucking crazy to me.

 

This is the thing. I really want to quit but there are no jobs out there locally for me. Seeing as I can't drive.

That's the thing. Parent snoops on kid's phone, and realizes her perfect daughter was sexting, goes to the police about the boy, and he ends up a sex offender for swapping pics with his girlfriend. The teens aren't the one pushing the issue. It's the parents. Hell, in the states you can even go to jail if the other party lied about their age, and said they were legal.

I usually only see people having a problem with it here when their underage daughter is dating an of age guy. most cases I've seen where it was a younger guy dating an older girl the parents are fine with it since they assume the older girl will be more mature and will keep their son 'in line'.
