The Video Game Thread

Rock Band 4 and Guitar Hero Live. Both come out later this year.

 

Whatever you do, don't score a kill against any mods if you like being able to play the game or use the in-game chat to communicate with your team.

I was under the impression that those types of games were dead due to their makers over-milking them, causing gamers to be burnt out on them.....and/or not really adding anything new or improving existing features. Also the spin-off DJ Hero and DJ Hero 2, as much as I found them interesting and thought I might try them one day, are reputed to have detracted from the core games.

 

It's been five years since the last title was released. So now there is a mild nostalgia feel. I can go on and on about rhythm games if you really want me to. I'm sure I would bore you to death though.

 

Probably not, I've always been very good at rhythm challenges in games....just not so much things like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, those buttons and the strummer is so damn different from the buttons on a PC keyboard or a gamepad, and I seem to be meant more for intense short ones than song length ones regardless of intensity...even the slow ones like In Bloom by Nirvana are hard for me if they go on long enough. Also I cannot sing, found out I did better on Mic tricking the game with different pitches of vowels (Aaaah, eeeyyy, ooooh, uuuuh) than I did singing the lyrics, to the point that I got the best Mic scores and everyone else in the room declared that "hacking". XD

Oh, I'm terrible at singing myself. For that I have it down on medium and just have fun with it. I find it interesting that it sounds like the main hurdle for you is the length of the song itself. It doesn't play much of a factor to me unless it's really long and very boring and tedious.

For fuck's sake...
My Minecraft server was working completely fine last night, but tonight it took me about 2 hours just to get into it successfully, and now I can get on it, I keep getting FPS drops down to 0-5 every 15 seconds or so and my computer is straining. I have no clue why. It's not like there's even any logical reason for it, I haven't changed anything since last time it was working perfectly.

Edit: Okay, so apparently, it seems like my computer has some overheating problems during hot weather, even though my case is little more than a metal frame. Who would'a thunk it.

 

No one here going crazy over the new Smash Bros announcements/updates? Ok then.

New fighters: Lucas, Roy, and Ryu.

 

I'm getting pretty agitated playing Minecraft because I can't decide where to settle down and build a home or in what style to build it. :/

 

Find a place where a river meets an ocean and make a bridgehouse.

 

I did start preparing to make a house in/around a giant redwood tree, but I decided I didn't like the location. Now I'm building a large tree house in the middle of a lake in the middle of a forest, but it's taking a lot of effort to flatten the massive hills out. There's also an area near that one that would make a nice cliffside and waterfall house, but it would also take a lot of effort to change. The other thing I've been thinking about is doing some sort of underground temple home, but I like the trees around. I could build it big enough to have an underground forest (like one of my Skyrim homes), but that also allows a lot of mobs to spawn unless it's extremely lit under and in every branch of every tree. I also don't want to build too far away from a port village that I've already built, but still leave myself enough room to create some semblance of reachable civilization, yet far away enough not to be bothered by it every time I look outside.

u c my mindset and utterly trivial dilemma. This is why I don't often play Minecraft.

Saw this stuff going around earlier, pretty stoked about a DOOM game that does justice to the original without the horseradish that was DOOM 3. Then here's 8 minutes of demo. So gruesome and awful and look at how gorgeous the station is. Probably have a few things to tweak and I would be very happy with co-op, but yea.

 

Yep, E3 stuff will just slide in here.

I can't play Doom since I'm a big baby. But that demo was pretty awesome. Freaking gorgeous.

 

Goddamn, watching snippets of Bethesda's E3 Showcase. Fallout modders are really going to have to up their game to produce the quality of content that won't look too out of place.

I also just watched the Fallout 4 trailer again, got chills all over my body. The music, goddamn.

 

Watching more of the Fallout 4 showcase right now. I have some reservations, but it looks fucking amazing regardless.
