Well as long as you can admit that I'm okay with it and have nothing else to say.

I still think that once in a while we ought to take a moment to discuss these things and figure out how we feel.

 

Japan is no example of a tolerant and open culture. They have a lot of trouble acknowledging the diversity in their own country, and make very little effort to expand their own perceptions of the outside world. Everybody has some learning to do about diversity and I think we all benefit from seeing from a new perspective or looking at the world from the eyes of somebody at a disadvantage. Japan is said to have a real problem with the treatment of the elderly and disabled as well. It may not seem obvious but I think compassion for other people stems from understanding them, or at least, being willing to try. And how we perceive others is very much affected by the way we portray them in our media.

 

While the notion of sexual harassment is here. I had an incident at work that I want to talk about.

I was updating a few computer stations. I was standing and an operator sitting down grabbed the inside of my thigh from behind. And pulled me to him. My first thought was, 'well hello there' I liked that attention. Then I remembered how I actually look and where I was. It was all just a gay joke on his part, I was so pissed and hurt. I just wanted to beat the shit out of him but I couldn't I had no one to talk to about it.
So how is this equality if I was a woman I could have went to HR and no one would have thought bad about it. As a male I am supposed to defend myself but then I would be fired and arrested. The whole area I'm in is homophobic.

I'm mad at myself for letting this bother me, it wouldn't have been a real problem if I didn't feel, sexy when it happened. That is a rare feeling for me and it was just a joke to him.

There's nothing wrong with it. So you're not forgiven, as there's nothing to excuse for.

For the last year I've worked with a lot of people I was out to. Even in a hick town, it's Canada, people are cool with it. But people took to slapping my ass and making comments all under the pretense that I liked it. Usually I did. Sometimes it made me uncomfortable. One straight friend grabbed both cheeks hard and squeezed and fondled them while I was at the sink. I felt a moan coming on and started to get hard. He walked off and in a mock gay voice asked "did you like it Ryan?" And I was blushing and warm and nodded. I was also embarrassed and every time he did it after that all I could think about was how he's never get away with that if I was a girl. But I set myself up for that. In order to ensure that farmville rednecks would accept me I exaggerated my sluttiness and created a situation where I laugh with them and make better gay jokes than they do just to bring them in and make myself feel safe. Apparently, all at the cost of some dignity and respect for my body...

 

I have no place in these discussions, so I'm gonna shuffle off to work...

extra perspectives are nice but not required im lucky and have traveled a bit and you would be surprised how similar we all are.

tried cutting some glass with a tile saw. if I could adjust the speed and use a thinner blade it may work but there's too much chip out along the edges and once a small crack starts it just runs and spiderwebs everywhere, so much for that project

on another note, had a friend who found out I was bi and had a boyfriend and he started to tease me and do stuff like randomly grope my ass. about the third time he did it I told him he had to stop or it would become a two way street, and he wouldn't like it.

 

I get that the throat usually feels worse after sleep. Mouth is dry, breathing irritates it, but woooow wow it's so much worse right now than yesterday. So swollen, and PAINFUL. I've already sucked down a lozenge and I'm gonna make some tea with honey, but shit this sucks.

 

@Exeter @Robert Thompson in most companies sexual harassment should be acknowledged and dealt with no matter whether you are male, female or trans. If your sexuality is straight, gay, bi, mono, poly, asexual etc and someone makes a pass at you that you don't approve of the firm should help sort it out.

But being in a homophobic area clearly is makes it hard to make a complaint.

We are an adaptable species. But sadly we adapt slowly.

 

I took a business law class this last semester and the lawyer that taught the class basically said "if you aren't a woman, your chance of winning a sexual harassment case is slim to none, I've litigated cases where juries have practically laughed the plaintiff out of court if it's a male complaining about being sexually harassed. if it's bad enough that you can't continue to work there, find another job, because you're unlikely to get anything from the courts"

he also explained how proving any kind of workplace discrimination is very tough unless there is concrete evidence of it. pictures, recordings, video, etc. the case he was hired as a lawyer for basically took five months since the company his client worked for fired the client after he complained about someone slashing his truck tires and hung a noose from his truck's rear view mirror. every time the client went to the employer to get a formal notice of being fired to give to the EEOC to start proceedings, the employer basically would say "what are you talking about? we didn't fire you, but you're late for work! keep this up and we will have to fire you" it only got resolved when a new company bought out the employer and heard about the issue and tried to settle the issue. his client was offered a $60,000 settlement but he turned it down and asked for his job back and for the administrative and management people to be replaced. 3 months later he got promoted to be the regional manager for the entire western territory the company operates in

 

But there was justice in the end. Although very slow and stressful for the gentleman.
As I said in my previous comment. We are adapting to accepting the diversity of different sexualities but sadly to slowly.

 

it just took 5 months, a ton of money he didn't have, and the unexpected buyout of the company he worked for. if he hadn't been offered the settlement by the new company he would have had over $45,000 in debt from legal fees with no income since he kept being 'fired' and having his wages cut for 'poor performance'
