Sorry to hear that, maybe it's not a smooth enough blade, or it's just generating too much heat for the glass to absorb. Cutting glass in that way, is precarious at best, but is the only way to make a hole. Also one of the reasons that it costs so much to drill a hole in glass or mirror.

I made sure to cool it off often and since it's a diamond grit masonry blade I tried to slowly score the glass all the way around in shallow passes so that it wouldn't heat up or put too much pressure on it. the issue I think is that when it gets thin enough and the saw does finally cut through it ends up just tearing out some extra material with it. I did try salvaging some of the edges with a tile edge grinder, but it didn't work too well since I couldn't get it to a nice even surface all the way around. I'm sure if I had the materials to build a rotating jig it may work but it's not worth all the effort. I'll probably try the carbide glass scoring tool later and experiment with a striker and also heat expansion fracturing to see if it'll work

Traditionally venerates the elderly.* Modern gerontology studies have shown that a majority of Japanese elderly are dying alone, often going undiscovered because Japanese culture doesn't like to interfere in the lives of others, even close neighbours. Couple that with young people moving out and having their own lives as opposed to traditional family homes and the general view that old people are useless, and you end up with a society that treata their elderly exactly the same way we do in the west with the appearance of venerating them.

Tomorrow is Father's Day and I'm not looking forward to seeing my dad. It's never a good time.

I believe it's been about 10-11 years since I've seen my father, about 5 years since my sister's seen hers. No father's day visits for us though.

I get along with my dad for the most part, but he is definitely not getting anything tomorrow unless I am magically good well enough to go pick up some booze booze booze for him.

Our heat today was broken by a series of storms that's been passing through the last few hours. Really pleased with that. Near constant barrage of lightning, rain on and off and oooohhh my that last bolt of lightning was close!
Hope it rains where you are too.

So, there is now a skunk living beside our house. A skunk mamma with 8 fleepin babies. They haven't even grown in their black fur yet, they look like tan coloured kittens with skunk heads.

Spent today in Lunenburg, a famous fishing village and home of a Canadian icon, The Bluenose II, the predecessor of which appears on our dimes. Had seafood chowder at a fancy deli and helped my mom finish her fish cakes and oh my fucking god that was the best meal I've had this decade.

Really? I recorded it at 114.
We're used to this. And hey, we got 7-9 months of mild weather, so it's not all bad.

I don't doubt that, when I saw that reading it was after 6pm and in the shade of our awning.
Yeah, back to summer. We won't see highs under 100F for the next 3 months.
At least, for now, it cools down in the early morning to the high 70's
