I totally accept and agree with that.

Still, not waltzing up to some random stranger and asking them to be my friend.

 

Sometimes a better approach is to make small talk about anything that might connect you. A shirt or something can go a long way towards starting a conversation.

On the other hand, once upon a time a boy was just wandering awkwardly near me at school and I just decided "fuck it." and practically yelled "Hey you looking for a friend? Grab a seat and introduce yourself." and we got to talking!

 

I do try the small talk thing, but the best I've managed so far is talking to old ladies in the checkout line at walmart, and that's if they initiate the conversation.

Oh, and I've been in that boy's position. I cannot function when that happens to me, and wouldn't wish that upon anybody.

 

The key is in who you're connecting with. You can connect with a nerd easily because we all have so many things to be passionate about. Band shirts and game shirts can go a long way. I wear an Assassin's Creed pendant and a belt so I tend to put that little bit of my personality forward.

Yeah, single for 5 months now I think? I'm fine with being single. I'm less fine with no sex but at leasr my toys are getting used again hehe. How about you?

 

People tend to start conversations with me a not the other way around. But then tend to fade out quickly.

I just can't bring myself to be sociable because friendships don't last.

 

Been single for just under a month now. I moved out a couple days ago and in less than a week I'll be moving across the country into a new place. And I might just pick up a new boyfriend while I'm at it

I have been trying to squeeze the toys into my schedule (and other places) but I think I've decided that for indulgent purchases, the next little while will be primarily for art. My butt's not getting any more accomodating so I might as well stick with what I can definitely use a lot more of!

 

I just noticed in the last couple years that my friends never really made an effort to see me. In High School, my house was right in the middle of town, so friends were there constantly, and we could walk from house to house depending on what we wanted to do. But as soon as I moved 15 minutes up the road, nobody ever made the trip up to visit me. Nobody even asked. And then I moved away, and nobody ever asked me if they could come up and see me. They invited me to parties which were of course, 3 hours away.

Now I'm moving far away and won't be seeing anybody til they get married or somebody dies.

 

Looks like Reddit is imploding. They fired literally the only staff member that organizes and operates high profile AMA's for many different subs, and they did so without a plan or a replacement. Now the mods are pissed off and there are several hundred subreddits going private in protest of the admin's shitty attitude and behaviour towards mods that's apparently been going on for years now, and this is just sort of the spark that set it all on fire.

Reddit very well may go the way of Myspace.

 

Exactly! this proves friendship isn't magic especially when you finish college.

 

Tbh, I've never liked Reddit very much. The layout irks me, and I'm always forgetting that I have to click on the comments and not the titles or I'll just get a picture or something instead of a thread. Plus there's like five billion subreddits and I don't have the patience.

 

I just see visual overload and can't figure out how it's supposed to be at all intuitive or appealing to the eye. Is it functional, sure, but there are many better ways to do it.

 

More things that the mods have been frustrated with for years now. Apparently the tools they have to make changes are something like 10 years out of date.

Right now there's about 9,600 active subreddits, give or take a few hundred. Personally, I go there for few couple specific subs. A couple for webcomics that I like have a relatively small but active community, atheism, askreddit, dadjokes, and a few for porn.
