I'd say my relationship with my parents is pretty all right, with a couple hangups (Mom can't know about what I do or my being an agnostic atheist heathen bastard, and other general shenanigans, Dad is annoying as hell when he's drunk and he can sometimes be insufferable about certain subjects, like he's often super condescending without really realizing it and it's obnoxious), but yeah Mom's husband is a big ol' piece of shit. She told me he was upset that her mom is moving into the town they live in because he's jealous about the time they honestly won't even be spending together, and it's so hypocritical because he is constantly in contact with his mom. I just wanna lay into him. With a baseball bat.

Second, sounds like your Step-dad (right?) is a right old jerk. I would like to imagine even though he says retarded crap he still treats your mom well, but by the sounds of things he probably tries to control her.

Wish I could help, but it's really outside my scope. Still, hopefully everything regarding your family ends up for the best.

Unless you use your face as a skype profile picture of course. That said, if I got around to using skype again I probably wouldn't voice chat. My mic's crap and doesn't work well with my low pitch grumble voice.

it's always fun when you run into people you know and used to go to school with their kids so when they ask you how things are going for you you can count how many words you can get out before they launch into a 10 minute spiel about how perfect their kid is and how it reflects well on them. the average number of words I can get out is probably 12. just helps prove the point that most people ask how your day is going just so they can talk about theirs

its weird how once some people have kids its allllllll they wanna talk about, like its the only facet of their personality now, being a parent. Its borderline mind control @_@

 

I also saw some furries while I was out at my town's art walk thing. unfortunately they weren't the cute funny furries but the kinda creepy over 45 furries wearing tails in public that both kept whinnying and yipping like a horse and a fox... I don't have a problem with furries but it's still kinda weird to see a grown individual in public sniffing things, growling at people, and yipping...

 

I think there was a television show all about similar people to the guy in the video, either that or it was an extended doctor phil segment. One girl (at least i think it was a girl, was a long time ago since I heard about it) was pretty messed up. Decapitated the family dog for "challenging her dominance" and admitted to doing so, but also claimed that she couldn't possibly have harmed him because they're friends. She never went back on either stance, she claimed both were true.

 

welp, to thine own self be true I guess. Takes some hootzpah to act so strangely when out in public. Though you have to wonder if those guys were otherkin. Some folks consider otherkin and furries to be one in the same, others get really mad if you cast one as the other. I can't make heads or tails of it myself. Though I kind find a bit of a flaw in the concept of otherkin. Everyone seems to accept and like the creature they are, no one seems to "get stuck" with something they don't want, which makes me kind of think they just really choose what they like. I dunno maybe I'm being ignorant/insensitive

I take all of it with a grain of salt, especially when people start to claim to be coffeemakers, or galaxies, or car batteries. but the majority are cute fluffy animals and dragons, not many leeches, bacteria or parasites which leads me to think a lot of it is just attention seeking. I almost got into all that stuff when I was an angsty 15 year old with a tumblr and cutting problem. that site is nothing but a big circlejerk of narcissists, naive teenagers thinking they understand the world and enablers. if my brother hadn't slapped the shit out of me when he found out I was cutting I probably would've crawled further down that rabbit hole. having been someone who thought "huh, how can I get these people to like me... what's popular that I could do to fit in" I can easily see through 90% of that bullshit

 

There are actually a few people on tumblr who do feel like they've got the wrong kin or something like that, though to be honest they couldn't look more like they're just trying to be the specialist snowflake, at least in my opinion. An example of which would be a post about someone who said they felt they were a demonkin, but declared that they didn't ascribe to many of the descriptors of what a demonkin is supposed to be by definition. Honestly the wordage used looked like they were on the verge of declaring that they were born demonkin but were transitioning into angelkin.

 

On a more positive note, I've landed! On a more frustrating note I might get sent back tomorrow! Fingers crossed on one day of exploration
