Happened across a nasty car accident on my way home tonight. Passengers were pretty beat up, the one's nose I think was broken since she said it was numb and she had blood all down her front from it, and the other maybe his hip? he said he couldn't feel his entire leg. Driver was hysterical, but was complaining of a headache, maybe a concussion. The front left bumper was fucked to the tire, tire popped, windshield cracked... ugh.
They were from a couple cities over, weren't too familiar with the area, and were driving down the intersecting road. Said they didn't realize the stop was there. Given the width and visibility of the road I'd assume they were speeding, went all the way across, down the ditch and hit the one tree right there. I guess she tried to drive out of the ditch afterward but got the underside of the car caught on the hill. Which is probably for the better, honestly, given everyone's conditions.
Stayed with them until the police and paramedics arrived.
Got completely eaten by mosquitos. I don't think it's fair to complain about that.
The one officer that I talked to was my height (only remarkable since I'm ~5'3"). The other said that when he pulled up he "saw the Challenger and this straight road and assumed (that there was some involvement, ie me speeding and hitting another car)..." and I told him that there are too many deer on that road at night. I spent, what, fifteen years in central Wisconsin? I've seen too many people get hurt because deer are fucking ridiculous. Wouldn't chance it.
Oh, two other cars came down the street. One turned down the intersecting road, which, fine, okay. I understand not stopping at 3am.
This other guy though...
I know what the visibility on that road is, I drove up the same way he did.
He sees my car, has to see the one in the ditch, speeds up, moves over to the side of the road we're standing on, and blasts past us, almost hitting the driver of the smashed car. Like...really? really?? you see an accident and you speed up. Fuck you.
