Bit late for me for that. By about a decade. I'm so done with romantic relationships. After my last relationship, I just gave up completely. Not worth the pain, for me. Being done means I no longer have to worry about impressing people. It's quite freeing.

 

See why I choose the single life. Less stress that way.

 

I suddenly feel like I'm having a mild panic attack now that it's time for me to go to that furmeet. Umm... Guess I'll see you guys later.

I think you all are really wise as people for realizing that you're happier flying solo than being part of a pair(s).
So much of human culture revolves around the need to get married or romantic relationships. I had a friend in high school who would fall into depression every time she experienced a break up and would do almost anything to stay in even a bad relationship. We're pressured to believe that you're not experiencing an optimal existence if you don't have a soulmate(s) to experience it with, especially by those who do have one(s), its like they can't believe you can be happier on your own just because they were not.

Eh, I honestly think I'd be happier with than without.

 

I'm certaintly not happy being single but I'm skilled enough to take my blindfold off. I feel the need of someone to be by my side but I don't like to submit my will to other person, so I won't play the "I'm a cool/party/funny/going out/romantic/sex beast/whatever someone wants guy" because I'm not that way XDDD
That and that the two things I value the most are loyalty and honesty. And loyalty starts by being loyal to yourself *puts sunglasses on*

you also save a ton of money when you're not constantly buying gifts, dinner and other shit for someone else. I see a lot of people that jeopardize everything they have going for them career and life wise for a relationship that is very obviously not going to work out in the long run. if you can't make a living on your own, you're less likely to be able too when your time and resources are divided by half

 

You tell me. Where I live (no joking here) romantic = making gifts (only the guy) every now and then (every month), taking her on expensive dates, paying the tickets for the theatre and so on.

I also never understood the expectations around gift giving and what not. If someone decides to give you a gift, it means that they've chosen that particular method to express their gratitude to you for your presence and effect on their life. If you're expecting to get a gift, as if it's some standard that has to be met for relationships or you believe you deserve it, it ruins the gift giving process all together and betrays the sentiments of the gift giver. Likewise, if you're only getting someone a gift because it's expected of you, then you're not really expressing gratitude, but bowing down to societal pressures.
