Man I really don't want to go to work today...

 

apparently the room mate always had mommy and daddy to do literally everything for them until they left for college, so now I have to sit here and picture how ridiculous it is for someone's parents to be doing laundry and cooking mac'n'cheese for their grown ass 25 year old kid

 

Evidently their parents never left the house, either. Talk about no life.

 

Well I definitely think my computer is giving up the ghost. Seeing as the whole screen just artifacted and wigged out.

*sigh* this is gonna cost me loads to repair.

 

Maybe it's just the screen? What kind of compy do you have?

 

No it's not the screen as the screen doesn't randomly shut itself down.

 

an hour and a half in traffic to go to and from the grocery store... yep, students are definitely back in town, and their parents with them

also your life can't get much stranger after seeing a crocodile rip off another crocodiles leg and eat it

Woke up today with a sore back, burning feeling in my throat, slight fever. All of this hasn't gone away yet. Good start to the weekend.

Oh, and apparently there's a tropical storm on the way. Fun.

So I want a $200 desk from the IKEA about an hour away

They want an extra $170 to ship it to me.

Nooooooope.

 

the curse of cheap swedish furniture that's made in china! I like looking at the IKEA catalog for inspiration (AKA, what designs could I base something off of so it looks similar but lasts more than a year)

on another note, got the other knife blank most of the way sharpened. now I just have to sand the blade to take out any scratches, make and solder on a new guard, sand again and then drill the tang so it fits to the hole through the handle without leaving a gap below the guard and having the holes perfectly concentric with one another, which will be the hardest part. at least I can reuse the handle but it won't be easy. the failed knife now letter opener is gonna get an oak handle so I can save the other laminated micarta/G10 slabs for another project

also I should really get some of that awesome orange pumice soap

 

The only issue is that it's literally the only desk on the entire internet with the exact dimensions I need, and less than half the cost of less fitting alternatives.

Had a really fun time tonight.
Wandered around campus with my roomie and her friend, then ended up going to this party thing at the library. Danced until I was too tired - some of these middle eastern exchange students were amazing dancers! Like, form a circle around them and watch level of dancing. One of them said "here, follow me" and had me mimicking his dance moves for a while, it was great.

 

I had the night off, but had the option to come for extra hours. I planed to take advantage of that option.............

That is until I woke up two hours late...............Arrrrggg!
Well there is always tonight's shift.
