got the new blade and guard soldered. did a much better job this time so I'm happy. just gotta go pick up more abrasive buffs for the dremel to fisnish cleaning up the blade and guard and then I can drill for the handle
EDIT: tried fitting it to the handle and realized I accidentally soldered the guard crooked. easy enough to fix, just rest the bottom of the guard on the jaws of a vice, reheat with a torch from the bottom until the solder softens and then square up the blade to the guard with a square and hold until it cools enough to set. just gotta polish off a little heat discoloration on the guard. got the tang drilled and it lines up with the hole in the handle. scalie is happy
