I figured there's a few computer people out there, so here's a thread dedicated to current builds and past builds :D

Feel free to give us a parts list and a final tally of how much your PC beast cost you as well as the purpose behind your build.
If you have pics of the parts that would be awesome to post as well.

To start, I don't think you'll need a sound card (unless you're going for an audiophile build)

Don't forget to build in a CD drive! Get literally as cheap as you want, because you'll pretty much exclusively use it to install your OS, but you WILL want/need it for that purpose, and it's nice to have on the off-chance you want to watch a DVD

What monitor(s) are you using? Be sure the graphics card you pick has the correct ports to support it/them! (Personally, I'd upgrade to a 970, especially if you expect to use that much RAM)

Go for the windowed case! It will be nice to look over at your creation once it's all built and running! (I'd know! I have the windowed version of that same case, and I admire the pretty guts every time I use my compy <3)

Also, pretty sure you don't need that CPU cooler. Fairly certain that processor you have comes with one in the box.

And are you planning on having a wired internet connection? If not, tack on a wifi card!

Thanks for the response Murphy :D
To answer your questions, I am basically going for an audiophile build, so the sound card will be necessary.

Thank you for reminding me about the CD drive and the wifi card, they have been placed on the list.

As for monitors I currently have a ROC 23" monitor and I'm sure it matches the graphics card.
As for the case I've been told that the windowless cases are slightly quieter and since I plan on doing this for my future studio I want to make sure that my PC is as quite as possible and sacrifice getting to look inside it.

    Can't wait to
    Glad I could help!

Really, even having the windowed one right next to me, the thing is still unbelievably quiet, and the majority of the sound would still come from the back where the fan opening and module slots are. The window is a bit thicker than the case itself and would help to dampen the sound more than the metal. I think you'd be more than safe, if not better off, going for the windowed version.

Granted I don't necessarily need to see inside my PC, plus the one I have has actual built in sound-proofing foam to dampen the sound even more and the windowed version of the same type has less of said material, making it louder than the windowless version.

Also Murphy if you have a build of your own feel free to post it ^.=.^

I do, but I have to wait until I get home before I can, because I don't have all the price info written down on my lappy.
