I'm sad about it, but I think I have given up on BD.
Sure, I'll most likely buy more toys, but not any time soon.

Apparently the 'forums' link on the side of the main BD website has been taken down so.

I am assuming they are not planning on keeping the forums.

 

Not really surprised by this, not even sure why they're acting like there's a chance they'll keep them around since their original reasoning was that it was proving too problematic in regards to resources.

 

My thoughts exactly. I really don't think they care as much as they're acting like they do all of the sudden. If they actually cared what people thought they would have put more thought into announcing that the forums were closing in the first place.

 

I'm just going to watch and enjoy the PR nightmare.

 

I just got done watching Guardians of the Galaxy with my Beau...

IT WAS SO GOOD OH MY GOD. Not even 2 minutes in and I was crying. Also, I fucking love Groot. Team Groot go.

 

Welp, I was considering my first toy to be a BD toy but now after everything that's happened, I'm just gonna look at other places to buy my first toy.

Yeah I saw Guardians it's sooooo good, it made me lath it made me tear up and it was action packed. What more could you want.

 

I would argue that it's not even about whether they care or not, it's that they're being shady about it. I don't doubt that it was a difficult decision for them but not standing by their initially choice of closing the forums and instead doing this polling bullshit shows that they don't have any integrity and is a slap to the face of their fans and customers.

 

IMO, this place will be better put-together than the original forums in a week, and I'd be totally cool with them just posting a link to this place on their website and saying they aren't affiliated with us.

 

Very true. I definitely feel the same way. I'm upset that we were taken for granted as a community that followed their products so loyally. I mean, it takes time and effort to join a forum let alone actually post content on it. And then for them to announce it was closing but then go back on it so quickly? Jeesh. Talk about jerking us around.

Based on what the survey contains and the posts by BD people, I think this is exactly what they intended. They wanted to outsource their work of maintaining the forum to people in the community. They want an unaffiliated forum to pop up that can contain all the off-topic nonsense and BD criticizing (or more accurately, critiquing), so they don't have to deal with it anymore. They want to focus their manpower on things that really matter to them, such as reviews, BD Labs, secondhand toy sales, etc. in a way that they can better control them.

All of this is completely understandable from the business side, but I think they went about it in completely the wrong way, and as others have said slapped the community in the face. Obviously, they underestimated how bad of a PR stunt this would be and are trying to figure out how to rectify this.

 

Considering the fact we're already a touch disgruntled and some have boycotted for the time being, I don't see them doing that. I feel like this is some Ark and we need to keep herding the regular forumgoers over here. Hell, I only just now realized I haven't seen Blindseed or Boku lately.

 

This is some right bullshit.
If they're in talks about finding an alternative to shutting down the forums, why take the link off now? Especially when they said they'd be up for at least another two weeks? What in the actual fuck, BD. Ugh.
