The Video Game Thread

Steam has a Magic (the Gathering) game which is free! It probably has microtransactions (have not gone looking for them, playing the campaign right now), but it does seem fun. If anyone wants to play online, send me a message so we can become steam friends and all.

 

For what? Everything I need a computer for I do on my crappy laptop or phone and I don't miss out on anything.

 

You'd miss for example on Elite : Dangerous if you don't own a good PC But I get your point. I personally never liked playing on consoles like PlayStation or Xbox too much, I guess I'm too used to PC there.

 

Preeeeeeety sure Elite is coming out on PS4 actually.....

In my case, my PC from 5 years ago is still handling everything I need it to, game wise. The current-gen ultra-setting graphics are out of reach, but that's a luxury. For me, the computer's gaming versatility combined with general internet browsing and entertainment has made it a worthwhile investment. I haven't needed a new console since the original X box.

If you already have the consoles though: Use em!

 

I just saw Quiet's rain scene for the first time and OH MY GOD, SHE IS SO GODDAMN CUTE MY HEART HURTS

 

Okay, so there's this epic-looking new game called PULSAR: Lost Colony, which plays exactly like you're on the bridge of a starship.

Like, each player is assigned roles, and you have to carry them out and make decisions to complete missions. You get to do things like manual navigation with star charts, planetary expeditions, space battles, and all sorts of other cool stuff! You even get to jump to warp! It's really neat looking, and I might get it if there are others on here who have a mic and would be interested to play with me.

 

Two hours. I've spent two hours going around Mars waiting for a certain public event needed for part of an exotic quest. And that public event has yet to drop.

Oh, and the quest line is only available today. You'd think maybe they'd increase the chances of the event to start during the times events are suppose to, but nope.

 

With that patience, you would have been great at final fantasy XI .
There are a few times I spent 8+ hours waiting for a lottery event or something similar.

 

Granted I had nothing better to do tonight, and with all the new enemies that randomly spawn I had tons of opportunities for other exotic drops. Unfortunately, they were all weaker than the things I had.

 

Can't wait for the Halloween event to start in The Secret World. Always fun.

 

I follow the game development for some time ^^ It's indeed going to be fun, but I plan on buying other stuff first. (Namely Elite : Dangerous and maybe SAI license to gain access to beta version of SAI2 ) But who knows, maybe I'll buy this one soon as well.

 

I just lost my first ever multiplayer battle in Starcraft 2 XD I guess singleplayer habits don't pay off in MP, though the knowledge of what does building/unit do is helpful. I had a good start, but then my SP tactic of making one base a fortress failed ultimately because I ran out of resources, which were spent on building defenses and upgrades.

 

Does anyone know how to get American McGee's Alice to run on Windows 7 from CD? It installed fine, I have it set to run as admin and on windows 98 compatibility, but no dice. It's driving me crazy. I'd buy it on GoG but they don't have it! Augh!

 

Oh, man, star craft 2 is awesome, but multiplayer is a whole different beast. 1 base fortresses will not work because your opponent will expand willy-nilly and gain a ton of resources unpunished. I'd definitely recommend watching some streams, or even flipping through some of Day9's old SC2 vids. Anything about specific strategies may be outdated, but his gameplay advice is often sound.

I'm hardly an IT guy buuuut...
It should allegedly run on windows 7 (after some brief googling around for others having issues.) Have you tried other compatibility modes? If it's not that, I would suspect a video card issue. Does the game start booting at all? Can you get a menu (to change video settings perhaps.)

 

Undertale is awesome. Retro style RPG with bad puns and feels.

 

I want to play pixelmon, but the game won't work. Every time I try to either log on the main server or start a singleplayer game, it just doesn't work and closes minecraft automatically...
