I'm sure there is, it's just that corporations and companies try to cut back as much as absolutely possible in order to maximise profit margins that only go upwards to the managers and CEOs.

This, as well as everything else you've said here, is absolutely correct. From my experience in the minimum wage market, they hire the barest of minimums to keep an establishment functional, even if they have to work their workers to the bone to achieve that. IF you're not good enough, fine, there's someone more desperate than you who'll sacrifice their health for the job because it's better than starving.

A while back I was placed on a minimum wage job in a drugstore through a government program. he program paid me instead of the drugstore, so I didn't actually count towards their total number of allowed employees. My job title was merchandiser, basically I put the new stuff on the shelf and in the back and make sure to check the back and see if any old stock can fit on the shelf. Before I was placed there, there was only one merchandiser. He did the job that we shared all by himself, and we'd often just barely get everything put on the shelves by the time my shift was over. The guy would take extra hours on the shipment receiving days because he knew he had to finish that job no matter what, and he knew they really didn't need him the other days. He'd skip his lunches and breaks, even when I was there to help, just so it was done on time and he could go home to his wife and kid and not have to worry about his continued income.

The manager, even though he was an ass, wanted to hire another merchandiser when I left because he realised how much happier and productive the guy was when he didn't have to pull a 12 hour shift and skip his lunch and breaks, but ultimately corporate wouldn't let him because that interfered with their profit margins. He's only allowed to allocate a certain number of hours to employees every week, and because you don't always need a merchandiser in the store, but you always need at least two cashiers, one for the front and one for cosmetics, and you always need either a manager or supervisor on site, he just didn't have enough hours to spare to give someone a new position.

Ultimately the situation that we're in is something that will have to pass, we're just the unfortunate few generations that had to get caught in a shitty awkward transitional phase between a production society and an automated society. The more jobs are automated, the less jobs there will be out there. Jobs that used to require 10 people now only require one. Eventually there will simply be too few jobs for the governments to be able to ignore it. It will have to be addressed at some point, but honestly at this rate I think we'll all be in retirement before that day ever comes.

The real kicker is that there isn't much of an alternative out there. You can either go bushwack and live out in the wilderness for the rest of your life, and ultimately not be able to live as a result of that, or give your life away for society in exchange for modern comforts, conveniences, and real choices for what you can do with yourself in what little free time you have.

If it's any consolation, a lot of countries tend to follow after what's going on in the netherlands after a while, and right now they're going through a shift in their job market, offering full time jobs as 6 hours a day instead of eight, still with a half hour lunch break. Imagine how much more comfortable things would be with a 6 hour work day. You wouldn't have to go home tired every day and just want to sleep, you'd still have plenty of energy and ultimately bearing with the monotony that is would would be easier on the mind. We can only hope that this trend spreads out as companies realize the benefits of having a happy, fulfilled worker instead of a half dead one.

Now that you all have mentioned it I swear the "rich and succesfull" bullshit spreads like a god damn cancer around the world.

Seriously, everybody who says that they earned it all through hard work - they're bullshitting most of the time. Hard work alone won't give you anything. I can tell by myself, at the beginning of my internship at the current workplace I was working really hard for like a month or two, and all I got in return was one-time "prize" (which was around $50) and swarms of coworkers that get angry when I don't want to help them as much as before. NOT WORTH IT AT ALL.

Also, people who tell to "just do what you want man and be happy" are also bullshitting. I'd love to do some things... But you see, most of those people that I encountered had it easy whole life. They didn't have to struggle with money for their whole life; having rich parents makes you able to be hired at better positions and just have/do stuff that requires money. Other thing is when you struggle all the time, and like 75% of your lowest wage paycheck goes for covering current expenses, paying debts... And that's definitely not enough at times.

And lastly, people who tell you to switch jobs - they don't know how hard it is to find a decent one with no good connections. A lot of my friends have finished the university, one of them finished law, second one is an engineer... And they still slave on comparable conditions to mine.

This is becoming bullshit, but we can't really do anything. As long as you will have no money to put food in your fridge, you'll have to work for literally any kind of paycheck, and that's the most sad part.

Working hard gets people rich, just not the people who are working hard.

Have to agree about the minimum wage jobs. Up front, I'm one of those assholes with well off parents who homeschooled me and my brother as kids because none of the regional schools were rigorous enough, paid for my undergrad entirely, even gave me gas money every week, paid for my food, paid for my car, are still paying my insurances, and even gave me some extra money to help me out with grad school expenses (including application fees and dorm down payment.) Our house was paid off when I was a kid (old farm house with 31 acres they got for about 64k that is now more like 300k, I'd say) and they still insist on buying me things like snow boots from REI, food, all kinds of things I don't necessarily need and should probably pay for myself because they just are that way. They wanted me and my brother to be debt free starting out in the workplace, and so far that's exactly how it's been. I'm immensely grateful and I know I'm retardedly lucky to be in this situation. My life would 100% not be possible in this state if not for them.

Anyway, last summer I needed some capital to go to grad school and make the first payments on the dorm before my stipend kicked in. So, I worked at a local grocery store on the 5am - 1:30pm dairy stocking shift. Bout eight dollars an hour before taxes. Holy shit. No one can make a living off that situation, seriously. I'd get about 36 hours a week even though I was supposed to be under 25ish because they really needed me there, and even with working shit hours, exhausting myself with the actual work (dairy/juice products are heavy!) and going home every day just to end up sleeping another 4 hours then having to go to bed early and get up again the next day, working weekends and all that stuff - I'd still only get about $200 a week. There's no way I could do that my entire life. I'd go insane and be broke constantly. Not to mention it would wear my body out. One of my coworkers was in his 50s, had only ever had jobs rather than a career, and had to work two shit jobs just to get by with rent and food.

Basically, this is why I'm going to grad school for engineering geology. I want to do as well as possible in everything available to me because there's no way in hell I'm wasting it.

It's too big. Makes my whole torso look bigger, my shoulders broader and my back curved. I'm sure it's because of the amount of swimming and drum playing I did growing up.

Bwahhhh, friggin tonsils... They're ridiculously swollen and have been for three days now. Everything else feels fine, but it hurts to swallow and I can constantly feel them in the back of my mouth.

I had jehovah's witnesses come to my door for weeks on end....

....until I opened the door completely naked the next time he brought his hot colleague over. Too bad I didn't get her phone number I thought it would be a great way to make a first impression. Never saw them again after that.

I really feel like I'm beginning to not belong in the local fur group or in the furry fandom in general. I feel like I've got no fur friends to go suiting with or who seem to like me and it sucks.

....or maybe im just super wary of making friends again...

Take it from me, you don't have to be friends with the local furs to be a furry. =3=

I know that but it helps a lot :x. Fursuiting alone is hard for me to do and going as a group make it a lot easier for me.
