The Video Game Thread

Thanks . I'm trying to keep decent co-op games in mind that might be more attractive to a non-gamer. Something story-driven is perfect.

 

Another round of Don't Starve Together with @Poster Nutbag himself as Haunter and myself as the cute Unikitty. We made it fairly far. We survived wolf attacks, recon missions and much more. Fought nothing too scary, but managed a good food collecting system. Survived 2 hours and 22 mins!

Screenshot was from a recon mission thinkingf this would be the safest place if my torch gave out. Yehey! for beefalo body guards.

So....

Playing Destiny, King's Fall raid on Hard. I actually found a very good team on LFG which was nice. We're at Oryx (the boss), all set up to deliver the killing blow... when I get a forced update for the console. This takes me out of the game, kicks me offline, and I can't reconnect until I install the update.

But wait! Theres more!

"There was a problem with the update."
"You need this update to use your console, but something went wrong. For help, visit *insert support link here*

I do that, and following the steps brings me to the "test your network connection." I select that option, and it pops up with the test page for a second before going back to the "There was a problem with the update" screen. I'm stuck in an endless loop as of this post.

Update installed, online access restored.

Apparently it was for the new UI. Which in my opinion looks like shit.

I've lost everyone on my friends list, which is sarcastically nice. I can't open any apps so far as they either crash immediately or don't open at all. I'm worried that some of my games or DLC may have been deleted as this happened to a friend of mine shortly after she got the UI update.

 

So I bought 7 Days to Die today, since it's on sale.

I've only got one question.

WHY THE FUCK DID THEY PUT DOGS IN THIS GAME?

 

I bought myself Alien : Isolation I got a pirated copy before, to test if it would even run on my PC, and I was suprised on how well it does (according to requirements I could have like 10-15FPS on lowest details, instead I have stable 40+ on max), but I still had to buy it because the pirated version got stuck at like third cutscene.

I love this game, and the way it builds tension. It's not a jumpscare type of game (well, there are surely jumpscares) but when playing it, you really feel like there's danger lurking for you, and you don't know where it is or when it will jump on you.

 

Oh man. That game...

And yeah, you only get jumpscared if you mess up ;3

 

I've watched a little bit of it. Seems like a pretty solid horror that doesn't rely on excessive jump scare tactics.
Nothing wrong with jump scare games. They can be fun (I like the premise of FNaF for instance, it's just played out.) Horror that is atmospheric or psychological is simply much more interesting, and has a bit more longevity.

Had to send my Xbox One in to get repaired. Something went wrong with the disc reader, as it wouldn't recognize or play any discs. And the new UI update made all my apps crash or not work anymore. First time having to send it in. I have my 360 though.

Speaking of 360, I downloaded Just Cause 2 when it was the game of the month for gold members. My god the things you can do in this game.

 

I need someone to multiplayer with in 7 Days to Die. I'm no good by myself.

Stupid deerclops gets me k.o'd via a dragonfly trying to steer it clear of our base camp. Not much of a survival game for me lol.
