I think I'm gonna have to end up waiting until I can 3D print stuff.

 

Oddly, when I announced I was fed up with Skype's issues and was done with it, the most I got was a small few folks I know willing to try and keep in touch on a different platform, with one of them giving me quite a bit of "You just have trouble with all programs lol " . Everyone else from the Skype Group seems to have forgotten me as far as I know....Best part is that I was having most of the same issues you told me about.

I've got one person I know having me try out Discord....I'm not particularly impressed, but I'm not exactly disappointed or put off by it either. I'll see where it goes for me.

 

For voice chat, everything doesnt agree with my computer, with the exception of Steam voice chat. Skype is where everyone is for text chat, so I stay there.

 

Half the crew is on telegram and at the very least, there's an app for it, s just like kik it's pretty easy to stay in touch that way too.

I can never understand the whole "Everyone is on X so I'll go there too" thing. Especially if it's something proven to have issues and when alternatives exist that are better. I may be referring to more than just Skype when I say this.

If a product has the largest userbase simply for having the most people, then the company behind it tends to have no reason to make it better or keep it working. They're getting hits, or sales, or whatever, so they figure they're doing it right. Thus, the only way to make it better is to stop using it; when sales/hits drop substantially the company has to rethink their policies or improve the service, or sink.

 

Eh, I want it to be tough enough for airsofting, especially the helmet. Also, isn't foam a bit clumsy to work with? I've used it before and did not enjoy it one bit.

 

I enjoy talking to people. Most of the people of the forum that want to chat have skype, as do many of my friends. It has a simple interface and works decently enough for text chat. It's really the convenience of its popularity. Once again, enjoying talking to my friends and all, I can get over minor issues and stay in touch with them all rather go "If you want to talk to me, everyone download this other app where we can make the group again".

 

So right now I'm confused. I sent in my appeals letter, which got approved. The email I received told me that they had reviewed the credits I had earned so far, which is 43. The credits I'll be taking this semester are 12 (they gave me a limit of 13), in addition to my Winterim credit (3), so that adds up to 58. How am I two credits short here? My advisor and I met up last week prior to my email about being suspended came out, and he said I had approximately 6 more credits til I graduate. So I'm unsure who's right, but I will be bringing my advisory report to show how many credits I have taken and passed to the next appointment I make.

I figured out the problem. Certain classes don't stack credits, unless they're a 291 or 299 class. So I've been adding wrong. But I actually come up short of 2 credits whenever I am adding the credits I have earned (that don't repeat). I'm genrally confused but made an appointment for tomorrow.

 

Man im glad i was homeless instead of in college when i was younger.

 

The annoying thing is is that it interferes with my plans of graduating when I wanted to, as this year will be the year I move out and attend a 4 year college.

I just wanna further my education, is all. It's hard work, yeah, but some things that I currently have learned, I need to learn more and not everything can be learned on your own.

Mainly, I want to improve my digital art and feel like getting into a program that has that would help, colleges that won't take my money.

 

This week has been extremely unproductive (which nags at my grad student habits), but also very good. :3

See, issues that prevent a chat program from functioning properly and impair the practicality of using it to chat with people kinda negates the "convenience of popularity". If it works for everyone else, that's fine, but there's not much point in me relying on a chat app that I cannot get to work 60% or more of the time. And unfortunately, as long as enough people use it whether it works enough for them or not, I highly doubt Microsoft will do anything to fix the issues because they're still earning plenty from advertisement and however much they get from people buying Skype Credit (do people actually pay them money to call people's landlines from their computer?).

I enjoy talking to people too, but there's no sense in me using something I can't talk to them with. And I'd rather throw up a "Hey, ya'll can catch me on here if you want to IM me" and see who keeps in touch, than simply say "Bye." and disappear to where nobody can talk to me.
