This is the roof of the garage. The wind is blowing snow off, which means it's deeper than this.

 

22 inches and counting. Winter doesnt care i can only take about 10. Just keeps plowing in.

I recall my days in Houston now.....where folks from other cities would be worried over regular rain, and we just trudged on through such weather.....and their faces when they saw the kind of rain we DID get concerned about.

There's rain, and then there's half-the-roads-are-underwater rain. And then there's hurricanes.

Thankfully we don't have to worry about hurricanes in Vegas, but if we get more than 3/4 of an inch of rain here in the desert, it's major flooding time. Mostly due to the limited ability of the surrounding soil to absorb water. It's much like a giant parking lot.

 

I feel you. Houston is actually below sea level, being former wetlands now paved over with asphalt, concrete, etc. What soil is exposed absorbs water decently, but compared to the amount of non-absorbent surface there's relatively little of it left where the city and it's surroundings cover. And it's known for the fact that it's always building more....

You live around Houston long enough, you learn that when it rains, you DON'T go to certain stretches of road (and there are quite a few of them). When it really fucking rains, or after a hurricane, you don't go outside unless you're a part of a relief group. Snakes, chemical runoff, flotillas of fire ants....did I mention fire ants ball up and float around on the surface when it floods? That's half a mound all up on your chest/face/arms if you think it's a bright idea to go swimming.

 

And you said you were too old to play in the snow.

But that does look like fun, wish we had snow like that here.

 

I let loose a bit today. Walked a bit to see how the main road was. I flopped in the snow a couple times. I forgot how much I used to love snow

I really do miss snow...........
Even huge blizzards, provided you are prepared for them. Been snowed in many times back in Colorado, when snowshoes were the best mode of travel. Thank heaven for generators though...........
