The "Bad Mood" Thread

I was working at McDonalds, and I was doing it alone. I couldn't keep up, and I had a breakdown at the ripe old age of 20something. Oh yeah, and I think I was going on week 2 with no days off as well.

 

I can't help but feel like a complete loser when I see all these people my age and younger out at the clubs with big groups of friends, partners and expensive cars enjoying themselves, whilst I sit alone in my room all day and night doing nothing.

 

You're only a loser I'd you don't find something that makes you happy. Doesn't matter where you spend your time, make it worth it, make it meaningful, I love nothing more than sitting down and playing a game I'm excited about. That doesn't make me a loser, that makes a happy, fulfilled person.

 

My life is largely just coasting by, no goals, no aims, not really getting much joy out of life, I just am.

 

Then you need to find a passion that inspires you and makes you get up in the morning. Try something you've always wanted to try, take a class, look for a group event on kijiji or the American equivalent, try something risky, make it count.

 

Closest thing I have to a passion is Halloween and scaring people. As for getting up in the morning, I hear bed sores are a pain. There's nothing I've always wanted to try. No idea what kijiji is. As for risky, about as risky as I get is unprotected sex with trusted partners, on the rare occasions I get sex.

 

Shame everything I enjoy is expensive as fuck. Plus I'm broke and don't have the time for a job due to university.

 

When it comes to jobs, I basically am stuck at all but unemployable.

I've spent the past 18+ years looking, after so long, it feels like an effort in futility. I've wasted an incredible amount of time looking.

 

It sounds better than it is. The resources are pretty bad, the lecturers don't give a shit and the qualification I'll be getting if I graduate is significantly lower than the one I was told I'd be getting when I signed up. Degrees don't mean shit now anyway, at least not here. All they want is experience.

That, and I'm now around £32,000 in debt and behind on my accommodation payments because I'm broke. I've applied to some student support center, but if they decline my application, I need to make up £2000 in a few weeks or I'm getting kicked out. Not quite sure what to do about that.

 

Feeling frustrated with my social presence.
I've been told I'm a bit stand-offish and I get a lot of straight faced responses.
I try to be friendly but I must come off as so aloof or, dare I say, snooty.
Just a bit discouraging.

 

I've been told I'm exactly the same. I'm either too cold or too enthusiastic.

 

Get so damn annoyed when people can't stand even knowing you're in a relationship.
Like I don't 'rub it in' or anything, just like to mention how happy I am if someone asks. And they're so bitter about it.

It's not my fault you're single. And couples exist. It's a thing of life.

Yes they probably are and I do actually know that feeling, but you can control what comes out of your mouth.

I had an acquaintance in high school who was never happy unless she was in a relationship and the times she wasnt, you couldn't bring up ANYTHING couple related without her going off on some tirade. People like that are obviously just jealous and can't emote it in a constructive way

 

I actually have a friend who I've stopped talking to now because he's still a virgin and if I even mention anything remotely to do with sex/ couples he ALWAYS turns the guilt card on me. And I never know what to say back so I just. . Don't.

@BorisLover I totally know where you're coming from. In the relationship department I'm unquestionably lucky, I know that. But jesus it can be hard to be happy around some people. I give a short synopsis of how thing have evolved with my girlfriend and somebody just flat out stops talking to me and doesn't come back til he's ready to just tell me not to bring that stuff up around him. Like, social anxiety is one thing, but if you want to be my friend it comes with a certain amount of positive language about my relationships. I can't believe anybody finds that stressful.

 

I'm the type to just roll my eyes and tune it out. It's like, yeah, yeah, you're happy. Good for you. Can we move on to a mutually interesting subject?

 

If I'd be in a situation like that, I'd just probably... feel a little sad. But I'd try to conceal it as best as I can, though some bitterness might show off. @Dracoa summed it up pretty much - I get it, you're happy, cool for you, move on please.

 

Hell, tell him youve probably figured out why hes alone.

 

Agreed that it can be annoying when people go on and on about their relationships (either that they're good or that they're having problems.) However, I don't agree that it's not a mutually interesting subject for at least the first time you're hearing it - is your friend's happiness irrelevant to you? If it is, are you really friends? Just my two cents.
