It's a nice bag from Think geek. Got it $10 off. The flap is actually an extra foot of bag.

Waking up in an apartment of my own, myself. Already without the stress of my brother and mother I'm getting better sleep and in arguably better moods. Except for when I had to go back for two hours to pick up my computer, as usual she was griping about how my brother wasn't immaculate, and quite frankly I'm not having any of that so I just took a walk until everything was ready.

Except we see time and time again with companies that hurt people by taking shortcuts that they KNOW will eventually be found out, that these greedy scumbags would rather make money off of a short-lived idea that pays off immediately than having a long-term plan. Some greedy guy would be more than happy to sell a real cancer cure.

The pseudoscience cancer cure industry is huge, you can't even imagine how much something would rake in that actually worked.

Plus... people will still be getting cancer. Hell, they could say "this is a lung cancer cure that's it" and market it to smokers!

The real reason we haven't cured cancer is because cancer is an entire class of diseases, not one single entity. Same reason we haven't eliminated the common cold.

Also, the math behind keeping ANYTHING AT ALL a secret just doesn't work. http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-35411684

    Officially jealous.

I don't even know what Misskin looks like!

I'll definitely give credit that a lot of the rest of that post does play a part in the matter, though not necessarily the whole. This, however...often they aren't putting as much effort in keeping things "a secret" as certain folks would insist. The most they usually do is not talk about it on more mainstream media and news, say "no comment" when asked or give fluff, and add "protective laws" that make reporting/showing proof of certain things illegal (like Ag-Gag laws making it illegal to record or distribute videos and images of what goes on in the livestock and dairy industry). The only time they REALLY do any of the erasing that your typical conspiracy theorists claim goes on is when folks catch them tripping up, and then it's often less "people disappearing" and really just a few quick CDMAs or the like to quietly and forcibly take down media about it, or just a few quick clicks if it's on a mainstream media site. Which brings me to the bigger factor....

People just don't want to pay attention. They're happy with their feelgood lives, so they don't want to know about the shit that goes on. When someone gives them fluff about how something's "just a conspiracy theory" they take it readily because it reassures them, reinforces their desired opinion that everything's fine. The mainstream media caters to that as well, only showing or talking about crap if it reinforces or can be presented to reinforce the "desired viewpoint". You want to know what's really going on, unfortunately nowadays you have to go searching for it yourself on the net.

I'll be honest here, the whole thing about conspiracy theories like what Exeter said he dealt with folks handing him, really tick me off; it's the actual crazies that provide a convenient rug to sweep the real mess under. Just call something you don't like to hear a conspiracy theory, and boom, nobody wants it. We all know the Holocaust happened because it was undeniable with all the evidence and survivors, but if the Russians, US, British, etc at the time didn't want it to be found out, they could have just carpet bombed everything and slapped the label on anyone who was actually there. There'd be evidence that remains because they wouldn't get it all, after all the Nazis TRIED to clean up but couldn't get it all before it was found out. But with the same concept of human nature, not wanting to know or believe something that makes us uncomfortable, they wouldn't have to.

Not every piece of stupid bullshit is a repressed inconvenient truth. Not everybody who disagrees with you is living some feel-good delusion.

I'm sorry, unnecessary Ad-Hominem much? It seems you have a personal issue with me now.

You know, there comes a point, where if all you can do is insult people, that you may want to reconsider posting.

That didn't even warrant a response from you Exeter, that was a response to Murphy. It was put in spoiler tags to spare the rest of the forum from it.

I'm really not sure what the point was you were trying to get across here...

Like, yeah, stuff gets swept under the rug, and covered up. But that really only happens when someone screws up in a way that would get people in trouble, not when someone does something good.

Any time you want to think something is being hidden, factor in what people hiding it would have to gain.

To use cancer cures as an example again, nobody is going to say "Wow, after pouring billions of dollars into researching a cure, finding something promising, doing multiple animal trials, honing our formula, and performing a large number of human trials to be sure that this is both safe and effective, we've got a real cure here! Better threaten to sue anyone that talks about this, and hope that nobody thinks it's worth being sued in order to bring a cure to cancer into the world. This could seriously hurt our bottom line being the company that has made the biggest biomedical advancement since penicillin."

In retrospect I probably should have put all of my posts regarding the subject in spoilers. Hmm.

Now hold on, an ad hominem is the act of creating the illusion I'm attacking your argument by attacking you personally. That would be me saying "You're wrong because you want to live in some feel-good world." Ergo, dismissing your argument by saying you're willfully ignorant. Or something like "You don't understand the pharmaceutical industry because you're Canadian and you're spoiled by socialized healthcare." What I'm doing is completely dismissing your argument because after lots of review and pointless, embarrassing bickering in front of our friends I don't think it has merits to stand on. I think your argument is stupid bullshit and that's no bearing on you or your intelligence, just your statement of the facts, as you see them, in my own narrow biased opinion. As David Fasold put it, Intellectual brilliance is no guarantee against being dead wrong. This is called being done with this kooky baloney. Nothing against you at all but arguing this point with you is obviously getting us nowhere and I really don't see the point. I'm not going to admit that cures for diseases aren't available because of greed and you're not going to admit that there is more than one way to make money when you have a product to sell. If it comes out tomorrow that Phizer has Curitoll sitting on a shelf and they've been keeping it from the public for 25 years I'll carve HOLY FUCK THE WORLD IS SHITTY into my ass with a knife. And if an oncologist team outside of the United States suddenly publishes research that leads to a cancer cure and they cause such a market boom selling the cure that the entire American pharmaceutical industry collapses, I expect we'll both be pretty surprised. And if neither happens, if oncology research the world over never produces a viable cure for any of the major cancers, and cancer immunotherapy or immunopharmacology is the path that best improves the outcomes for patients as many oncologists today expect, well I guess neither of us will change our minds.
