No idea where I got the phrase "hot dog fetish" while reading this the first time, but I did.

 

had someone threaten to call the police today because apparently using leaf blowers to clean all the dust and grit and rocks off the sidewalks in the apartment complex they share with everyone else triggers their anxiety, to top it all off they came out to not so passive aggressively tell us we're all stupid for using herbicide to kill the weeds. the best part is I recognized her from a class took a few semesters ago and she's as shitty and controlling now as she was then. good times

 

Well to be fair, quite a few (not all, and don't go randomly trying them out, you need to know which ones) "weeds" are actually entirely edible by humans. Dandelions being a pretty good example. That said, once you're using herbicide on the area, none of them are safe for consumption obviously.

 

the ones we usually have to deal with are things like wild prickly lettuce (poisonous, imitates opioids, and can cause kidney damage), randomly growing sagebrush, toadflax (the roots are good for your liver but pulling it only helps spread it. it's impossible to get rid of without herbicide) and a few others that are spiny, woody, or straight up poisonous

 

Like I said, not all. And yes, quite a few more are indeed dangerous.

 

And the transmission linkage in my car broke. Again. In the middle of downtown. During rush hour traffic.

Couldn't make it one week without something major happening.

today was pretty noral, nothing strange or bizarre happened, but I did end up getting some backspray in the face with some glycophosphate

 

oh my god I started laughing like a lunatic halfway through reading that just imagining trying to tell an ultra-health super food nazi about it and having them scream "IT'S GOOD FOR YOU!" and start stuffing them into their face even faster to 'prove' their point. bonus chuckles for the mental image of a man-bun being involved. I'm really surprised that they can legally sell those, but at the same time I'm not surprised at all that people are dumb enough to buy and eat them

 

My understanding is that the FDA runs on a a system of "Prove it can hurt someone" instead of "Prove it won't hurt anyone", but more importantly stays hands-off for anything branding itself as organic, herbal remedy, health food, etc. The whole "Claims of X are not evaluated by the FDA" deal....which apparently provides a really fucking nice loophole, you want to sell whatever crap even if it's toxic, just label it a health food and rake in the cash, then hand over a tiny portion of it to pay the lawsuits later.

on another note, fucking love mad max fury road. the props and visuals and the fact they had to do most of their takes in one go since they actually crashed and blew up the massive vehicles they built just makes it even more impressive

 

Someone start a petition to redesign the UK flag.

 

There has been a referendum whether UK should exit EU or not. Apparently 2% more of the people voted for exiting, but it means not much now since it was only a referendum. Now, whether their government will make something out of it or not is different question.
