I have a feeling I like Capaldi more than Tennant. I actually stopped watching for about 6 months after David took over. It just rubbed me the wrong way. I never did warm up to Tennant.

How many episodes of the 10th Doctor did you watch? He's my favorite Doctor, and the one that most fans love, so seeing the rare exception makes me wonder.

Does the appearance of the new Doctor freak anyone else out or is it just me?

I have in the end watched them all, but at first, I gave him at least a few episodes.

Well, his eyebrows are quite cross. They are attack eyebrows. I find it funny that they went from Matt who has delicate eyebrows to Peter who has... yeah. Talk about extremes.

To me he looks like a failed vampire from the oldie movies and a evil teacher from goosebumps or round the twist.
These show mentions are clearly showing my age. :p

I already like Capaldi so he'll have no trouble winning me over. Thing that bugged me about the episode was the storyline- it was pretty awful tbh- all over the place. That comedy trio hanging around Victorian London (they really need to pick some new locations- it shouldn't just be 'Dr Who's adventures in London and a few other places when we can be bothered to move the production crew') gets old fast, and the stupid 'boing' sound effects when people fell over were just annoying.

I can see why a lot of people want Moffat to hand over the writing of episodes- the show is supposed to be scary, but none of the main characters ever come to harm. Where's the danger if you know they'll always escape? There's too much focus on trying to be witty and appealing to kids- it really needs to go back to basics and have some proper storylines with menace in them.

Next episode is called "Into The Dalek" and takes place, generally, on a space ship. Rusty was especially bad about "London = the Universe", thankfully Moffat changed that.

It's been hinted at that Clara will die in the Christmas episode, and I'm doubting it'll be like the Ponds' deaths where she lives a long life and dies of natural causes. Also, the show started off as edutainment for kids, back when they really weren't sure what they wanted to do with it, even now it's a family friendly show, so everyone can watch.

I'm hoping that last episode was just the last gasp of the light-hearted previous series. Dr Who was always family friendly, but in the past they didn't patronise kids- they knew that families tuned in because it was (relatively) scary. Companions died, and episodes ended on genuine cliff-hangers. There was a much more immediate sense that the Doctor and his companions were in danger, something that is really lacking in the newer version of the show.

Well, Moffat has described this season as "visceral". Also, "Missy" and "Paradise" are going to return at least in the season finale two-parter, if not sooner.

Clara dies? That's a little soon... I mean she already died once in a Christmas episode (River: Spoilers).
I still want to give Capaldi a chance. I mean, I have no doubt I will continue to watch, but the new look is not winning me over. I mean I look seeing the new opening (which is awesome btw), the new sonic screwdriver, and the new outfit. They explained the outfit he's wearing and... meh. He's got the same sonic screwdriver... that's ok, I guess. But... I don't know, he's old, got curly grey hair and... well, missing part of the personality which seems to be a component of all doctors.
The episode? I actually almost feel asleep. It just was not engaging.

As for the 10th doctor, he was my favorite. I think if you saw DW from the first reboot, you probably will not like him as much. People seem to love Christopher, but I found him a little off for the role. Well, I didn't hate him or anything, it's just his look didn't give me the idea of what the Doctor should look like (think of him in first season of Heroes). The first episode I saw of the new series was with Tennant (before I went back to watch from the beginning).
I find a lot of people didn't like Matt Smith, but to be fair Tennant is a hard act to follow. I think Smith did an excellent job and brought something to the doctor.

It's only been hinted she dies, in one article that has her tombstone pictured (she was born on 8/23).

I started in 2005 with Chris. From my experience, most people seem to love David, and I can't figure out why. He's the least Doctor-ish of all the Doctors. He just didn't seem like The Doctor to me, he seemed more like a human who called himself The Doctor. As for Matt, to me he was a breath of fresh air after David, it was like, finally, another proper Doctor.

Finally, The Doctor is Ginger. Sure it may be in an older body that's gone grey, but in his younger days, Peter was Ginger.

I'm undecided and a little disappointed by the latest episodes. Capaldi makes an interesting Doctor but it just feels like the stories are being repeated from previous episodes. The first episode was meh, the plot was taken from the Madame de Pompadour episode and there were some moments that made me think "Why is that here?" like a cartoon sound effect when he goes asleep.

I don't know. I'm still trying to get used to this doctor. I mean, the idea is nice, Journey to center of the... Dalek, but there wasn't all the much to it. Doesn't have the same oomph. Although to be honest, I didn't like a number few episodes of the previous season either. "The Rings of Akhaten", "A Town Called Mercy" and "Hide" seemed to drag on and on.
Maybe I'll grow to like him, but right now I'm kinda of... meh.

I'm in the same boat. That episode could (should) have had a lot more impact than it did. Having a reprogrammed Dalek has been done before, and so has having one being helpless then powering up and running amok.

If they're running out of ideas, they need to hire new scriptwriters (and put Moffat out to pasture). It's a waste to have the show's main enemies turn up, shoot some stuff, then get blown up in the same manner every time. There's no dramatic tension if we've seen it all before- it just falls flat.

Next episode is looking pretty shite as well tbh.

I'd agree this is feeling really quite flat, like Moffat is just dredging up the same stuff like here's how he was writing these episodes:

    - The victorian trio were popular, I'll use them again! I know they were in the climax of last season but screw it they'll never get tired
    - LOOK! There's a lesbian kiss! I'm so modern. LOOK AT THEM KISSING!
    - It's been a while since we had those clockwork robots, let's bring them back but let's pick another famous french noblewoman whose name we can use
    - I did 'Dinosaurs on a space ship' surely 'Dinosaurs in victorian london' is the most logical place to go (though very little was done with that dinosaur)

    - It's been two episodes with the new doctor, let's bring back the Daleks
    - I can do the Eccleston plot better, just you watch me
    - I wonder if anyone remembers the film Fantastic Voyage....
    - Just use more ducting, that looks sci fi enough
    - The Doctor is all rage filled and emo, this is NEVER going to get tired
    - The Doctor STILL makes a good Dalek, this is a horse worth a few more floggings

This episode wasn't bad... well, from what I can remember of it. My cat got sick and had to clean up after him so I didn't see the whole episode. My pet takes top priority. Medieval cybermen... sort of.

Hey, this new episode was pretty good. It was really cheesy, but hey, when you combine a legend that's rather cheesy and a show that's frequently cheesy, you're gonna get a lot of cheese.

I actually really like How Capaldi shows his skepticism in a much angrier and certain way than the previous few Doctors have, and the "was Robin Hood real or not thing" was rather a rather enjoyable element. The villains were forgettable an could really have been anything, but hey, they can't all be zingers.

I was laughing hysterically at the arrow splitting scene.
