Do toys really have to be stored separately?

    If so why?
I just got a cute box for all my toys, but now I'm wondering why all care advice says to keep them separately. If I clean and dry them after use and before putting in the storage is this necessary? Would putting them in plastic bags and keeping them in the box be good enough?

Only if they are made of different materials, like PVC, rubber, jelly... those are unstable materials, in contact they can react and melt.
If all your toys are made of platinum silicone they can be together (just don't stack or compress them to avoid permanent marks) I'd don't recommend plastic bags because they are plastic and if there is any moisture, mold could grow.

Thank you for the information. I hadn't considered the mold thing at all so thanks for making me aware of that

I’d suggest not using PVC and Jelly toys because they can cause cancer and aren’t good for your body.

I store all my Bad Dragon and Squarepegs in the same underbed box; never had a problem with them in the ten years I've been collecting.

Shit, I didn't realize this and I've been doing it for years. Can you suggest any good alternatives?

Toys can get moldy? Yikes. I thought the surface was non-porous.

It's rare, but silicone toys can absolutely develop mold regardless if stored in a wet environment, such as a shower, tub, or plastic bags. As far as I know, it may not breach the surface of the material, but it definitely stains it and tbh, I don't think anyone wants to use a toy that has mold stains.

The surface is slightly porous compared to (for example) glass or stainless steel. A glass or stainless steel toy will not absorb odors. But it's possible for a BD toy to absorb odors.

Depending on their ages, kids have different requirements for toy storage. An inverse age-to-size formula applies here.

I store them together in an 'Auer Euro Box' too for many years already. I even have Bad Dragon and Mr. Hankey toys together. Checking them regularly but no issues.
However indeed, after useage, clean them and let them dry very good in order to prevent mold.
