I've purchased quite a few toys, and sold a few thanks to this forum. But I've finally narrowed down that I'm not a huge fan of toys with knots. Specifically, the two Rex toys I have, an L/5 and XL/3. The L has a suction cup (that is INCREDIBLY strong, I must add), but even with such, trying to play with him and take the knot is difficult when using by hand rather than squatting on. And if not using the suction cup, the squat angle has to be precise. My XL doesn't have a SC, and because he's super soft, he's super floppy. His knot is well beyond my body's capabilities of taking him, so I try to enjoy his bulging shaft. But, because he's soft and floppy, he easily falls out if not paying close attention... and if he slips and hits the carpet, no more using him until completely cleaning off all the fuzz, semi-ruining my toy sesh. If knotting the toys weren't difficult enough for me, the fact that they won't stay standing on their own makes for a not-so-fun extra challenge.

I'm on the verge of selling both of my Rexes, and I've had my eye on an XL Echo, specifically because he has a nice bulging shaft. He has the length comparable to my L/5 Chance for depth, and more girth than my L/5 Nox, but I fear purchasing another toy that won't stand on it's own. Are there any owners of an XL/3 Echo that can confirm he'll stand on his own? Or should I go to a firmer setting?

He's in the signature color, red with fade to pink knot, and black base

Medium will probably stand on its own. I lucked out and got a firm XL that dropped in adoptions and i can say for certain that Echo stands straight, heck even XL Chance stands straight in firm. If you are dead set on soft the split firmness option may make it more stable.

Rex mostly has to be in medium firmness if you wanna knot him, at least easily, and 2ndly the trick to knotting him is just have enough lube on him, and inside/outside of you, then just sit on him while relaxed but make sure hes actually pointing into you the best you can and not bent, the edge of the bathtub seems to work pretty well but make sure you dont rush his knot or you'll regret it, I found out the hard way when I accidentally rushed mine the first time, with medium firmness along as you're relaxed and lubed up, hell slowly push himself into you, the fastest way to knot rex though is the same way, but turn him sideways, if hes facing up or down then hes a much tighter fit, hes like a lock, one way hes loose, the other way, hes locked in place.
get him in first then try doing it the other way for a locked fit, hes much harder to knot if hes not sideways.

do you have any other toys to help prep you first?
my fenrir required me to buy a winston tongue to get him in. winston tongue is so amazing at prepping you for a large knot you're having trouble with, I suggest the xl, he can stretch you up to 4 inches, my Winston's tongue in a soft.
once loosened up, sit on the knot relaxed and a little thumb pressure usually does the trick, rex large and below locks fairly nicely but the xl puts up a fight to stay in, at least for me. another thing I did was sit on him and have a hand on both sides pressing my thumbs into the knot to try and squeeze him smaller so hed pop in, it wouldve worked but a medium firmness with that teqnique was a with painful as your butt's stretched to a size and your squeezed knot slips in out of your thumbs squeeze it's now expanding back to the original size in you, itd probably work perfectly with a soft as the soft would have to much force like a medium would. once you get him half way just tighten up and he should suck himself in, except the xl, hes a hassle even in medium.

if you're selling them, I suggest getting him in a medium firmness.

once prepped it can take up to 10 or twenty minutes of just sitting on him till he goes in, rex isnt a quick knotter.
but boy does he make you jump when he passes the half way point and pops in...
