Getting to know two potential playmates, both reasonably well hung (one THICK and one LONG) one is only a block away and the other is in a nearby town, if and when I get to have my fun, there will be pictures to share and stories to tell :3

That's just it. I don't know. It's a computer science thing. I spent two freaking hours going through these really clear, really excellent examples. The dude starts with a simple calculator. Then shows how you can modify the calculator so if you put in a nonsense equation, it will tell you "That's nonsense" without having to actually change the code that does the calculation. Then goes on to show how to modify it to show you what part caused the error, and so on.

A monad is, as far as I can tell, a precise description of what kind of data can go into a subprogram, and what kind of data can come out, and contains specific alternatives for what to do based on what kinds of data it sees (numbers, plus/minus symbols, the equals sign), but it makes absolutely no freakin sense to me how it works. So once you've defined those rules, the rest of the program doesn't have to be rewritten; failures, alternatives, location tracking, etc., can be defined in the data type declarations, and the rest of the program magically just lets all that happen.

Apparently, this is one of those subjects in CS that's so goddamned hard that you just have to beat your head against it until you "get" it. But everyone who works with them, and I agree they make some things seem freakin' miraculous, can't explain to people on the "not getting it" side of the divide what they are.

it wasn't a tracing or anything, but it seems like too much of a coincidence for them to put up a head shot of the exact same character that I just put up a headshot of. plus its a Disney character, so not like I own him. I'll be watching that whippersnapper *squints*

 

I posted a picture of an Orca on my FA and a day or so later, someone else drew an Orca and said I inspired them. Wasn't a trace or anything, so maybe your art subject was relevant to their interests and you inspired them to take a whack at it
