Sometimes I wish I could drink so I could get biltzed and forget my life for the night.

    Ugh. I hate drinking.
I used to enjoy it, but...idk, it's just not fun for me to lose control over basic motor and speech skills...and then black out so I don't remember things. It's also like....a heavy feeling and I don't like it. Not to mention the next day I'm always sick.

I personally love drinking! Now that I've gained control of it, it's something that can be enjoyed in social situations and also has soooo much to offer on the tasting side! My days of drinking til I'm blacked out or sick are mostly behind me, but I still enjoy the more positive aspects alcohol has to offer.

It's like Hitch said... Alcohol is a terrific servant, but a terrible master.

I can't even drink alcohol for positive reasons. Apparently I have a fucked up prostate and bladder and was medically advised never to drink it.

That sort of sucks, but hey, it's not the end of the world. I like alcohol, but it's most certainly not a required part of anyone's life.

I just bought it up because I'm having a shitty night and need some kind of relief.

I've considered just trying alcohol now that I'm older, but I realise I don't have good impulse control so I don't want to develop an excessive drinking habit, especially with my depression. I do find that not drinking does make it a lot harder to socialise with people my age though. It's like everyone around here only talks about two things: making plans to go drinking and what they've done while drunk.

I stick to other, natural ways to get intoxicated, but it only lasts a couple of hours, is impossible to OD on, and no sickness the next day! Hooray!

(But it's not legal in my state yet :C Close though.)

    I think I love you.

“Hitch: making rules about drinking can be the sign of an alcoholic,' as Martin Amis once teasingly said to me. (Adorno would have savored that, as well.) Of course, watching the clock for the start-time is probably a bad sign, but here are some simple pieces of advice for the young. Don't drink on an empty stomach: the main point of the refreshment is the enhancement of food. Don't drink if you have the blues: it's a junk cure. Drink when you are in a good mood. Cheap booze is a false economy. It's not true that you shouldn't drink alone: these can be the happiest glasses you ever drain. Hangovers are another bad sign, and you should not expect to be believed if you take refuge in saying you can't properly remember last night. (If you reallydon't remember, that's an even worse sign.) Avoid all narcotics: these make you more boring rather than less and are not designed—as are the grape and the grain—to enliven company. Be careful about up-grading too far to single malt Scotch: when you are voyaging in rough countries it won't be easily available. Never even think about driving a car if you have taken a drop. It's much worse to see a woman drunk than a man: I don't know quite why this is true but it just is. Don't ever be responsible for it.”

    Christopher Hitchens, Hitch-22: A Memoir

Sorry to hear you're having a shitty day :(

Yeah, I run into a fair bit of that with people around me... Always talking about all the stupid things they've done while drunk... I'm someone who struggled with alcohol and hallucinogens for a bit and did more than my fair share of really stupid stuff... I just feel embarrassed talking about that sort of stuff (most of it, some important parts of my life happened while drunk), and don't see why so many people love to shout these stories at the top of their lungs...

It's also a little ridiculous how people make drinking alcohol in excess out to be a standard part of life... If you have your reasons not to drink, you shouldn't feel any pressure to do so, And using it as a coping mechanism is never a good idea... It doesn't work and only leads to further problems.

Hehe... Hitch's wit could cut diamonds. Even if I disagree with what he's saying, he just says it so well that you gotta respect it...

I got bored and hungry, so I decided to make some popcorn. I always make it on the stove because I really hate the microwave stuff. I ran out of grapeseed oil, so I had to use a substitute oil from my cupboard. While I was waiting for it to heat up, I realized: Huh. I don't normally use coconut oil for that orifice.

@Vitani are you talking about what I think you're talking about? If so I found that particular object either doesn't effect me very well due to my ADHD or maybe I'm not using enough of it. Idk but not something I do often anyway.
