    Hello everyone,

The last 2 months I had been lurking on the old, original forum, one thread really called my attention, it was the Comparison Thread. Was really nice to see everyone was sharing pics that were really useful for comparing toys but it looked a bit cumbersome, possibly having comparisons posted multiple times, not to mention it's a bit awkward to search. So instead of creating a thread for that here, I thought it would be better to create a tool for doing comparisons!

I wanted some opinions on how you would like it to be, I already started doing it but it's 2d, using pictures from the website, still not ready for putting it here, but I hope I can finish a very basic version next week. ^^

I feel that this would make decision making for future buys so much easier! I very much support this concept ^.=.^

Eventually it would be nice if this toy tool was 3d and you had the option to rotate side by side and look at both toys from different angles.

For now I'm doing it 2d as I'm not really familiar with 3d, plus it takes a lot of time for making the models. Working with pics will let me finish more models faster.

It would probably be very helpful! I found that the only way I was able to compare toys was to grab their pictures from the site, the ones next to cans, and then resize the photo so the can was the same size in each photo. It gave me some idea of what I was getting into. A more visual guide would be great though, I fully support this endeavour ^^

Yes, this is a really great idea. Though I have to ask, do you intend to do this with just BD toys, BD and non BD toys or start with just BD toys and expand to other toy maker's toys from there?

Since I'm using the website pictures, I do have the coke can as a reference for size. So any toy pic can be used if it has a coke can for reference.

Okay, once I find my camera I might be able to give you a few pictures of the non-BD stuff I've got.

For now I don't think it's a good idea to be including non-BD. I'm using the website pictures just for a simplified version. If I get it working fine on most browsers then I'll try to use vector graphics, it would be way easier to get more views and would scale better for comparing.

Sounds like it may be web based. If you need a hand let me know. A github page would be cool.

Yes, it's web based, far easier to update with newer designs IMO. ^^

Just an ugly preview, very simple, for showing how it looks like (for now).

Building up the list for comparisons, tomorrow I should be able to post the tool with 2 or 3 models.
Another small preview for now. ^^

Looks really nice so far! would it be possible to move them too in the future?

If there's still interest in a 3d tool, and noone is working on one, I might have a look in making one. It's probably not going to be an online one though and I'm going to need help with getting all models in it. (need multiple photos of angles on preferably solid/high contrast colored toys)
