The Video Game Thread

MD looks pretty cool, but I'm a little perplexed as to why they bought Jensen back. I thought the end of HR was perfect. I was also disappointed at how little the Tyrants impacted the game and story. They were pretty cool, badass and somewhat unique characters. It was like, it got to a point where I was halfway through the story and like "wait, who are these guys?" "THIS ELITE AUGMENTED BLACK OPS SQUAD HAVE BEEN HUNTING YOU DOWN, MANIPULATING YOU AND TRYING TO KILL YOU" and it really didn't feel like it, they were just "there". There wasn't any build up or tension or anything, they were just points at the ends of chapters that appear for a cutscene or two and a 5 minute shootout. The fights were just disappointing and gimmicky IMO. I wish they had more direct involvement in the game.

I also love the environments and designs in the Deus Ex games. I really wish there were more games with that aesthetic. I didn't like how cramped most of them were in HR though, and the fact that most of the gameplay was grinding and "go here then come back then go here then come back, etc...". Hoping the gameplay is slightly different in MD.

Deus Ex as a series sort of reminds me of the Neocron games. Anyone heard of them?

played some dark souls, got my ass fucking railed by seath about 9 times, kept dying trying to cut his tail off. once I did that and I wasn't getting slapped by his wiggly tentacle legs I beat him in the next try

Well, it seems like the GTA online community so far half consists of people who are transphobic as hell and half people wanting a "trans look" on their characters. What the fuck.

So far they've only announced 4 maps and one DLC one. There are no space battles. There is character progression and local co-op. Dogfights and massive maps are a focus.

 

Let's not forget any Yoda, Mace Windu, Count Dooku, General Greivous, Geonosis, Kashyyk, Mustafar, or anything from the Clone Wars Era. I'm considering trying to put together (yet another) server, this time for a modded Battlefront II.

Also really want to get my Dark Chronicle and Ace Combat fix, but sadly the PS2 is back at the Houston house with my brother, and none of the gamepad controllers work anymore because he likes to throw them when he gets mad at the game. And of course my laptop isn't strong enough to Emulate anything PS2 without horrible sound stutter, though if for whatever reason I decided I wanted to mute the game I could actually do it since the video/game runs okay. Maybe I'll emulate some Megaman Zero instead.....

 

I was trying to remember the title of a certain game I loved as a kid. I literally looked up "weird alien game ps2" which lead me to this list of under appreciated games. The game I was thinking of is number 47, Extermination. This whole map gives me epic nostalgia especially going through the vent xD

I'm not necessarily a gamer, but after watching several game plays I really want Fallout 3 for the PC

 

I recently finally got round to finishing the main story of Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn and all the updates after putting it off for so long. I'm really looking forward to the Heavensward expansion now

 

Once I get a FT job, I'll probably grab up FF14. I have a bunch of friends who play it now and what I've seen of it looks pretty awesome.

 

Dragon is cautiously optimistic.

 

Fallout 4 May be announced this E3 2015! I am so flipping excited even if its just pulling my leg this stupid game series means so much to me!

 

Interesting.

From what I can see, they need more work on the sounds. Needs ambient/environmental noise, as well as reworking the character noises. I'm a bit annoyed at how the bat sounds, and I can imagine it getting really grating if you try to play that for longer than ten minutes.

Besides that, the level doesn't look terribly guided, which can be good or bad. You get people that like to explore, but also those who just yell "WHAT DO I DO?" It also seems like they don't have any other characters made yet, just the main two. I didn't see any enemies or friendlies, just the main character.

Conclusion: Good early demo.

 

I think it's just more meant to show that they're doing something in the spirit of Banjo Kazooie right now, I expect a lot more from this than a random open world with a bit of an Incan/Mayan theme and some out-of-place sound effects. The voice effects reminded me of the Grublin enemies from Banjo Kazooie, they had a certain maniacal laugh.

 

Downloaded and played some Mario Kart DS on the Wii U VC, dear god does that game love blue shells, I got hit with more blue shells in one cup than I have in both MK Wii and MK8.


And that was just in 50cc!
